I am 100% in full support of this as are all of the 47 team members at our restaurants. This mandate will make us much safer in our work and help to prevent further shut downs, please pass it!

It is scientifically proven that wearing masks can significantly slow the spread of the virus. Please consider an indoors-only face mask requirement for the sake of the health and safety of all Milwaukee citizens. Cases have been surging, and if the Common Council blocks this ordinance, they will be doing their citizens a great disservice. Any who refuses to wear a mask, or opposes this ordinance, thinks only of themselves.

Retail and restaurant workers are going to have to deal with the ire of people who are not interested in evidenced-based practices to protect the public health of OTHERS, and by extension themselves. Do not leave those who have the public's health in mind, especially essential workers, to fend for themselves when the people who oppose them will (whether they believe it or not) be putting them in literal danger.
Enforcement concerns are a straw-man argument because the enforcement is not the point. The point is that businesses who want to do the right thing will have leadership to cite.

I strongly oppose this ordinance as it does not specify an end date or establish criteria to met for the ordinance to end. Also, bars and restaurants already have the authority to refuse service to those who choose not to wear a face covering and this ordinance pigeonholes those businesses who have chose to remain neutral on this issue.

Please keep Milwaukee’s health, and Wisconsin’s future in mind. We all want things to return to “normal” but it must be done systematically and safely in order to be sustainable. Wearing a mask isn’t difficult, it is simply a behavior change. I don’t want to cancel my wedding for a second time due to covid restrictions.

All scientific evidence points to masks being the best strategy for curbing viral spread, sparing the requirement to continue stay-at-home orders and further economic shut down. Leaving the decision up to individuals and establishments has thus far proven ineffective, as the re-opening of our community has been mirrored by a dramatic increase of cases, beyond a simple increase in testing rates. We have concrete evidence of the impact of loose re-opening measures leading to immense and overwhelming outbreaks, as seen in Florida and Texas. PLEASE help our community avoid this same devastation.

Please pass this ordinance as it’s one of the best and only options we have right now to help slow the spread of the virus while we wait for a vaccine. It’s not ideal to have to wear a mask but it’s a simple new part of daily life for the time being to help protect yourself and others.

Strongly oppose. Let people decide where they want to go, what businesses they want to support. Government does not need to get involved. The initial goal was to slow the spread and we have done that. We have an empty facility at State Fair park that was never used. Stop the overreach of government.

Enough is enough. The US has recorded its SIXTH single-day record in 10 days with cases surpassing 68,000! In the world, the US accounts for almost 29% of the newly reported cases (per the WHO). Wear a mask. Wear a mask the life you may save may be your own or one of a loved one.
Partisan politics needs to stop. Walk across the bloody aisle and agree to to work together to pass a measure that will save lives. Forget your egos, the right vs. the left and make a decision that will ensure that people will survive this pandemic.

I am very concerned that wearing re-used facemasks is unsanitary. It seems to me that everyone agrees wearing them is to protect others and not yourself. This is noble but nearsighted. If my mask becomes a germ rag I put my immune system at more risk. I will likely get sick and the dominoes will begin to fall. If my neighbor feels healthy, I do not want them to jeopardize their good health because it might protect me if they are A-syptamatic. Their worsened health is guaranteed to affect me.

Do not mandate germ holders. Educate and trust our No. 1 health caregivers - OURSELVES.

For the sake of public safety and having a chance at making it to the other side of this pandemic, we need to listen to science and al do our part by wearing masks.

Making masks mandatory outdoors under any circumstances is just stupid, unenforceable and just playing politics. The city didn't let the police enforce the curfew but now you want us to think the health department can enforce this, they can't.

Please pass this mandate, it’s long overdue and has the potential to ensure That we can continue our re-opening process without having to take backward steps (as we have seen in the south).

please, please, please adopt this mandate. i am not excited to wear masks everywhere i go, and i bet most people aren't. but i want milwaukee to thrive, not be decimated by preventable deaths. i want our kids and teachers to all be here. our essential workers. i want the economy to rebound. none of this can happen if our population is decimated. i want to live. i want my family to live. i want my neighbors to live. i want *you* to live. at this moment in the pandemic, wearing masks is our best strategy to keep more of us alive. thank you for showing us you care.

This is terrible public policy that has no relationship to good science. It is no secret in the scientific community that no mask offers anyone significant protection from any viruses, and may actually cause harm to some people.

Political correctness and virtuous feelings do not replace good science, and the public along with small businesses suffer as a result.
