Masks should be recommended but never mandated.

There are too many people that are not considering the well being of their community. Too many think the pandemic isn't a problem for them or just don't care. Please put a mask ordinance in place.

This need be mandatory to the maximum possible extent, indoors and outdoors (one only need look at Brady St. sidewalks and patios to understand why)

I am against this proposal, most specifically regarding the outdoor mandate. Also, the age needs to be increased to FIVE years old please!

Please support this measure. It is the only tangible measure we have in our hands to collectively combat this virus. Please disregard the politicized and unscientific opposition to this common sense measure. Masks work if more of us use them.

Strongly oppose. Stop infringing on my rights as a functioning member of society. I have the right to vote just as I have the right to my own health. Businesses can require it for entry into their establishment but it should be an optional choice per person. This is unconstitutional. And 7/10 times people do not wear masks properly (below their nose) which voids the entire concept of a mask. If you’re high risk or scared wear them and stay isolated. This is inevitably pushing this out longer, and it’s unsustainable. This is asinine.

Consumer-grade face masks do not prevent the spread of viruses. https://www.greenmedinfo.com/blog/masks-dont-work-review-science-relevant-covid-19-social-policy-0

Instead of debating a fear-driven mask policy, spend your time addressing why people have weakened immune systems. Air pollution; a water supply contaminated with heavy metals like lead and toxins like fluoride; pesticides in our food supply (ewg.org); toxins and carcinogens in personal and household products (ewg.org); unhealthy eating habits (high sugar consumption, bad fats, junk food). Terrain theory vs germ theory!

“One asymptomatic carrier rode an elevator alone, then 71 people got Covid-19. She did everything right. She had no symptoms, but she self-quarantined anyway after travel. She stayed in her apartment. She ordered-in food”
THIS MIGHT HAVE BEEN PREVENTED BY WEARING A MASK.

To those opposed: actually READ the proposed ordinance before blindly denouncing it. Indoor public spaces and outdoors within 6 feet of others, with medical exceptions for those who can’t. Plus a resolution for free masks. That’s it - pretty easy. This minor inconvenience will help get things back to normal faster and save an exponential number of lives with basically zero effort. My household and extended family 100% support this ordinance because we care about the well-being of others, regardless of who they vote for.

I strongly oppose this. I have not worn a mask and I will not. This is a political scamdemic and I refuse to give in to this fear porn. I do not support businesses that require a mask.

If you don't feel comfortable with somebody not wearing a mask then stay away from them.

We need to pass a law mandating masks. The virus is not political. Asking people to wear a mask is not too much. Whether individuals agree or disagree (because apparently you can do that with an actual virus?), It's a necessary step towards getting the economy going and getting us out of this mess. The numbers speak for themselves. Let's be an example of success and not embarrassment. Let's present ourselves as an intelligent, compassionate, forward-moving city, rather than a backwards, ignorant clump of morons. Please, please please pass this ordinance!

do not become MASKNAZIS and force us to wear masks and if you do you need to pay for them out of your own pockets and let the people get the ones that they want and however many they need at your cost not the taxpayers this should be left up to the individual not bunch tyrants

I don't know why it's so hard for people to wear a mask when you know you're going to be around others. Cases are rising & not wearing a mask at this point is selfish. Make it mandatory.

This is essential for fighting COVID-19. In the city and nation-wide, numbers are staying high or increasing. It is necessary to take big steps to ensure public health and safety. Face coverings should be required and provided for free to those without access to them.
