Masks need to be mandatory, we are in a PANDEMIC. We need to look out for each other, and people aren't doing it on their own accord. We will never get out of this if we can't come together.

I support a mask mandate for all people of the city of Milwaukee to wear when in public, as long as the city is prepared to discuss how certain neighborhoods and communities of color (who are already being disproportionately affected by this virus) may be unfairly targeted with fines or whatever the mandate may see as response to those in public without masks. I think the city should strive to give out masks to anyone who is seen without one

Businesses should be able to make the decision weather or not patrons need to wear masks. This is overreach by local government. Mask wearing outside and having 3 year old children wear a mask is ridiculous. This is 70 businesses using the local government to do their dirty work for them when they can just put a sign up on the door themselves. Strongly opposed to this.

The City Gov. should do what it can encourage people to wear masks, and this legislation is a good way to do it. For evidence, see: https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2020/06/417906/still-confused-about-masks-heres-science-behind-how-face-masks-prevent.
We---see “exceptions” in the legislation---should wear masks because it will likely save *many* people’s lives, and it’s only a minor inconvenience. Isn’t even a small chance of saving someone’s life worth a minor inconvenience? To avoid misunderstandings, please read the legislation before opposing/commenting. There’s nothing draconian there.

This should not be a political issue. Please follow the guidance of health experts and require face coverings in public. Do the right thing.

Strongly support the mask mandate being required in public spaces. There is a very clear correlation between the countries that have this disease under control and the wearing of masks in public. As someone who works in downtown Milwaukee with customers coming into the store frequently, it would make me more comfortable to know that everyone is going to be wearing a mask. Doctors wear masks for hours during surgeries and while seeing patients, not for their protection but for the patient’s. People should be able to go in public without worrying that they’ll be infected by someone in passing.

Stop being selfish babies. If there was a hurricane coming and you were told you should board up your house, wouldn't you? Board up your faces, there's a hurricane hitting us.

At the very least it’s a sign of respect showing that you care about the well being of those around you. A very minor inconvenience to have to put up with.

Wearing masks outside is ridiculous. If businesses want to mandate it fine. Probably won’t be going to them. People with claustrophobia, asthma, COPD, etc have already had a hard time with this making it hard to live or work. If a person is wearing a mask and I am not, aren’t they considered covered? If we all are wearing mask do we still need to be 6ft away. There are thousands of other killer diseases but we aren’t changing those things are we? Just remember it should be a choice because some people don’t want to make others sick but wearing a mask makes that individual sick.

From a bartender - our industry is what makes up a large portion of what Milwaukee is known for. My opinion on opening bars, jumping to 50% capacity within said bars with no clear reasoning from an epidemiology standpoint and the complete lack of forethought on regulations aside - we need more from you. This is a small request that would make it easier for bars to enforce policies that don't leave their employees feeling unsafe and helpless.

Please vote in support of the mandate.

Masks are not only beneficial in stopping the spread of COVID, they also provide a sense of comfort & reassurance to those who have had to go back to work in busier areas of the city. It doesn't matter if you're healthy or if you don't believe in it, this pandemic doesn't care. Everyone is at risk, & this is only helpful to all of us. Why fight safety?

It is in the interest of our communities that the city pass and enforce a mandatory mask ordinance as soon as possible.

I support this proposal because it is the minimum that we can do to help prevent the spread of COVID. Wearing a mask helps protect everyone.

As an essential worker my health, and the health of all the customers I interact with is contingent on people's ability to wear masks, which has been poor. A mandate would make me, all my coworkers and all the customers we serve safer. For example, in Missouri 100+ masked customers were served in a hair salon with COVID positive workers wearing masks and none of them contracted the disease.
