I strongly support a mask ordinance. Wearing a mask when out in public is a small price to pay to help slow the rate of infection. We are clearly seeing a second spike in cases, much earlier than was even predicted. This is not a political issue and needs to stop being presented that way. Our public health experts agree that wearing a mask helps to limit additional infections, refusing to take this basic step will result in more harm to Milwaukee's citizens and economy long term.

As Wisconsin continues to surge again every day with new cases, this is the right next step. Also supportive of not giving any enforcement authority to MPD.

I oppose the government mandating masks to be worn in public. People and businesses should be able to decide for themselves whether masks are to be worn.

You need to speak with OSHA in regards to the recommendations and safety of wearing masks. you are getting onto dangerous territory by mandating this, There will be law suits and you can do more harm than good. I have lived in Sherman Park for 20 yrs If this passes I will be moving to Washington county. You will loose many businesses as well

Oppose - let businesses and individuals decide for themselves. A compromise could be to mandate masks at essential businesses prior to 9:00am so immunocompromised have an opportunity to avoid anyone that is not wearing a mask.

If a mask mandate is put in place I will NOT go out and thus will not be spending money in the community. Small local businesses will again be negatively impacted! I am responsible and courteous to those around me. I keep the suggested distance and can still smile at people and so appreciate a smile back! Mask wearing should be a choice and I will wear one when I feel it is necessary.

Wearing a mask is not just for you, the mask wearer, but for everyone around you. The same thing can be said for pants. If we are both naked you can easily pee on me. If I’m wearing my pants. You can pee on yourself and me but I am more protected by my pants. If we are both wearing pants, you are just peeing on yourself and on your pants and I am safe. Now substitute pants with masks and pee with respiratory droplets. Think about it

Oppose, law suit coming if this passes. Complete infringement on peoples rights. This is an easy one. People that want to wear a mask can, those that don’t want to don’t have to. Keep government out of it.

A mask mandate is a small price to pay for citizens of Milwaukee be as safe as possible. In addition, it will help small businesses avoid interruption if cases continue to rise and help limit cases on site that could lead to temporary or permanent closures.

Your health is your responsibility, my health is my responsibility. The science behind the masks is ridiculous & constantly changing. We will no longer visit Milwaukee because of this ridiculous rule. This is a virus, not a death sentence for all. Please consider letting people make their own decisions for their own health. If you’re worried, stay home.

I strongly oppose this measure. Let each business decide what they want to do. There is also no ending date, so we are opening a door to allow leaders to infringe on more and more of our rights. My body, my choice is fine for abortion, but not a paper mask? Healthy people do not need a mask and sick people should stay home. The science being followed to create this mandate is flawed and the city will be opening itself up to a lot more 911 calls for people passed out from wearing a mask. If this is passed, I will be taking my business elsewhere and so will many other people.

Many people are misinformed on why the masks are important and are not individually making responsible choices at the detriment of everyone around them. Additionally, to preserve the ability of our healthcare facilities to treat the sickest members of our community we absolutely need to implement a mask mandate so the spread slows back down. We also need this to prevent more businesses from closing forever, they can't afford to keep closing and reopening when employees get sick.

I fully support this mandate. As a resident of the 53211 zip code and as a parent. I wear a mask in public to protect others. It's disrespectful for others to disregard my family's health by not wearing a mask. You don't always know when you are contagious or sick. We need to fight this battle on the front line, and that front line is transmission. Life is more important than inconvenience. We need to protect our service workers, if we are going to have businesses open.

Wearing a mask is a simple, easy, and evidenced-based method to reduce the spread of Covid-19. We should all be wearing masks.
