I believe masks face coverings should be an individual choice and not centrally mandated.

I commented in support of the mask mandate last week. Time is of the essence after a three day spike. How is this not in place yet? It's already too late. I repeat what I said: like Florida and Arizona we are going to shut down again. It is not safe to be out eating and drinking, so the least we can do is wear masks if we won't stay home. It's CDC recommendation, it's science, it's empathy. It's not only about protecting yourself, it's about protecting others. It's not an infringement on freedom or a controversial political topic, but common courtesy. Love your neighbor, wear the mask!

Masks are for the common good. They work. It’s a proven fact and it’s the least we can do to keep the vulnerable and ourselves safe. Let’s tackle the spread before this problem becomes unmanageable—again.

As someone who works in the service industry, we are working hard to provide you with the most safety in our restaurants. The least you can do is wear a mask and help do the same.

Please vote yes to make masks mandatory in Milwaukee. This mandate is absolutely need to protect our community and help slow the speed of COVID, and is months overdue!

This is the simplest way to help to reduce the spread.

This is an essential mandate, for the health of our community and for our country as a whole. We have waited long enough already to enforce safer measures, but it isn't too late. Cities across the United States should require masks to be worn, especially when cases of COVID continue to rise and deaths continue to happen. If you haven't been affected personally by it, it may be difficult to understand how important it is to do everything you can to ensure others will not suffer from the disease. This is a simple step to take in the right direction right now.

As a business owner who wants to stay in business (and keep other local small businesses open too!!), I support the mask mandate

To those opposed: please READ the proposed ordinance before blindly denouncing it. Indoor public spaces and outdoors within 6 feet of others, with medical exceptions for those who can’t, with a resolution for free masks. It's an easy, effective way to help reduce the CONTINUOUS increase of cases in WI. This minor inconvenience will help save an exponential number of lives from both symptomatic and asymptomatic (this is the problem) carriers with very minimal effort. I 100% support this ordinance because I care about the well-being of OTHERS, regardless of who they vote for/what they believe.

As a service worker, I strongly urge you to put in place a mask mandate to curb the spread of COVID-19. Wearing a mask is a trivial task one can take to decrease the spread of COVID-19 and keep our communities healthy. Without a mask mandate, you are putting people who have no choice about whether or not to go to work in danger. You must pass this mandate to keep Milwaukee safe.

I fully support this mandate. Honestly, long over-due for our community. Entire states (IL) have been doing it for months now and it has become second nature. Enforcing masks would help protect our community, slow the spread, and truly show local businesses we hear them, support them and care about THEIR safety. Wearing a mask is such a minuscule inconvenience when you look at the big picture.

As a Milwaukee resident that is registered to vote, and that lives and works in the 53204 zip code, I am in support of face coverings being required in public spaces.

The only thing guiding our response to this virus should be science. Health experts agree that face masks help slow the spread and keep people safe. Let’s continue to be kind to one another and wear face coverings.

I fully support the mask mandate. Covid is spreading in Wisconsin at alarming rates. Some of the highest in the country. We should be taking the recommended safety measures to stop this and get our city back to normal. This is about our community not individual comfort.

Instating the mask mandate will not result in positive results. It will continue to hurt local businesses by reducing patronage at a time when they need to recover from the shut down. Citizens and private businesses have the right to determine the requirements for entering their establishment and creating a mask mandate is an abuse of power. It will only serve to create more difficulty for a large portion of your constituents, especially business owners. Instating this mandate will harm your chances of re-election, and drive your voters into supporting other candidates.

Masks are a CDC recommendation. Why wouldnt we want to keep the public safe?

I fully support the mask mandate. It is sad that a proven means of preventing COVID-19 transmission is causing so much controversy. It is selfish to not wear a mask in public spaces, especially indoors. Even if it is not 100% effective it is still better than nothing and allows us to regain some control over this virus that has taken over everyone's lives. Wearing a mask to help prevent the spread of a deadly virus is not a violation of "your rights" it is a the right thing to do if you care about other people, especially those who are immunocompromised, elderly, or more vulnerable than you.

Noboby listened to the mayor's curfew or social distancing themselves from the riots, looters and thugs that defaced the city and damaged property, so leave law abiding citizens be free of this non sense. I will always take my money else where instead of Kilwaukee.

Best case scenario: save lives of our families, friends, and neighbors
Worst case scenario: we wear a piece of cloth over our face for a while.
Seems like an easy call to me.
