I fully support the Milwaukee mask mandate. This is an easy step in preventing COVID deaths in our community. This is the easiest step there is to prevent the spread and spray respiratory droplets. Please don't let us die.

I do not think that masks should be mandated in Milwaukee. Police have better things to do like taking care of crime in the city than going around and ticketing people without a mask. Also it will just cause more issues and segregation within the community. Wearing a mask should be a recommendation, but not required. It should in no means be a fine. Masks are worn to protect others if you are sick and if you are not sick you should not be wearing one or you should just stay home. Mandating masks will not only be more stressful, but it will cause more divide in our community. Please do not pass

PLEASE pass this ordinance, WITH the teeth in it. I'm 73 years old and don't have the freedom to enter places of business because I don't know whether I'll encounter people not wearing masks, even if the sign on the door asks people to do so. I also don't go any place outdoors where there might be groups of people not wearing masks. This ordinance will give many of us more freedom and can only help our economy.

This is a huge public health and safety issue. It's important to listen to science not propaganda. Wearing a mask has no proven or suggested negative "side effects," and many people who have had to wear them daily for their professions have been fine. It is unfair to force employees to choose between their health and livelihoods – and possibly their lives. We need to listen to science and pass this ordinance if we ever want life to return to "normal"

The lack of clear guidelines has cost lives and business!
All scientific evidence points to masks being the best strategy for curbing viral spread, sparing the requirement to continue stay-at-home orders and further economic shut down. Leaving the decision up to individuals and establishments has thus far proven ineffective, as the re-opening of our community has been mirrored by a dramatic increase of cases, beyond a simple increase in testing rates. We have concrete evidence of the impact of loose re-opening measures leading to continued outbreaks.
    PLEASE secure our community!

I work in Milwaukee's entertainment industry, but my job has not been possible due to Covid-19; and it will continue to be impossible until we have the virus under control and can again gather safely. If mandatory mask mandates are what it takes to get the public to protect their communities and allow me to return to the career I love sooner, then I am in full support.

Our bodies our choice. Further more once in restaurant and or bar individual takes mask off to eat or drink and it exposed to everyone else guess what the ordinance s now useless. If this passes i wont be shopping in the city of Milwaukee ill take my $$ to cities that don't care to infringe on our rights to choose. We are the Land of the free because of the Brave.

Should be an individual business decision.
The New England Journal of Medicine says that the face coverings offer little, if any protection from infection.

Public health authorities define a significant exposure to Covid-19 as face-to-face contact within 6 feet with a patient with symptomatic Covid-19 that is sustained for at least a few minutes (and some say more than 10 minutes or even 30 minutes). The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal.

I am very much against this mask mandate. It is impractical, will not help contain this virus, and masks can be dangerous in the heat. I will not be spending my time and money in the city of Milwaukee if this passes.

I oppose. Let citizens use their freedom to make their own choices and accept their own risks, just like everything else. This is not black/white and many smart/expert people disagree on wearing masks

There is far too much evidence out there stating mask wearing is not good for the immune system or psychological wellbeing, that and more. Please STOP the madness. The numbers and deaths DO NOT WARRENT this action. I do not even know if this will be counted because of such deceit that is among the people.
You must do your research and see what a devastating effect this will have overall.
Give the PEOPLE the RIGHT to chose...

We need to be protecting our citizens. People out working right now don’t necessarily have a choice whether they want to be there or not and 1/3 of all house holds are high risk. Mandate masks!

Please pass this ordinance. Public safety is at stake, and this is a simple and effective way to protect ourselves and others.

I strongly oppose. Research has shown that there are a number of possible risks associated with wearing masks - and requiring them outdoors makes no sense based on the available data. It is also very concerning that there is no mention of how exceptions will be dealt with. How is one expected to prove his exemption and what structures are in place to be sure those people aren't discriminated against? The rancor and judgement evident on the side of those who are pro-mask makes it likely that this will lead to some seriously negative confrontations.

It is in the city of Milwaukee's best interest to require face masks in public spaces to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our city. COVID-19 cases are increasing again, largely in part to people gathering in groups without protective covering. The sooner we are able to mitigate the spread, the sooner our businesses can get back to normal. With a lack of guidelines and carelessness for how businesses were allowed to be reopened, we effectively made the spread of COVID-19 worse. Mandating masks is a logical step in the right direction.
