This would be so beneficial to the health of our city and community

Strongly oppose, especially as this has no defined endpoint. “Duration of the pandemic” is vague and subjective. Given the current statistics - 5.5% of the state population affected, 2.2% mortality rate - this is no longer pandemic. Businesses can choose to require masks and individuals can choose whether they want to go to those businesses or not.

I fully support a resolution requiring the mandated use of masks. Certainly nuance is needed, but we should take a proactive stance in looking out for the welfare of those in the city. Should a severe outbreak befall is, beyond just the health impacts would be economic impacts felt at every level.

This is a matter of public health, not partisanship. As the situation and scientific understandings progress, of course, it would be logical to update requirements accordingly.

    The outdoor requirement is unenforceable.
The indoor portion has many problems and needs to be corrected to be effective. In its current form, the legislation is political, not useful. Two of these problems include
    1) Not requiring certified masks. Many improvised masks are ineffective at controlling aerosol sprays.
    2) Not restricting indoor dining. The city currently allows restaurants to serve customers indoors. This demonstrates a lack of seriousness on the part of the city. If masks are required, indoor dining should be banned.
Also, requiring people wear something is creepy and offensive.

Absolutely support mandating masks. Cases are rising and I, someone who is high risk, feel very unsafe in Milwaukee because of the lax attitude towards the virus.

Our cases numbers are the highest they’ve been since the pandemic started. It would be incredibly foolish to continue to do the same thing and expect different results. This virus isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon but we will have a fighting chance at avoiding another shutdown, if this goes into effect.

Masks should never be required, not everyone is safe wearing one.

i strongly oppose! masks do NOT protect against covid19. if they did we would have been wearing them for years. this is strictly political and nothing more. this is not only a violation of our human rights but goes against the ADA. wearing a mask puts my husband and daughter at severe risk of sudden death since masks inhibit their ability to breathe the oxygen their body needs. masks have extreme risks for everyone, especially those with underlying health conditions and are only weakening our immune systems and lung function which is vital to fight off a respiratory infection.

Unconstitutional and I will petition to have the mayor removed from office

We all need to do our part to stop the spread of covid. Masks are a simple and low impact way to do that. It just makes sense. Passing a mandate will normalize the practice of maskwearing and apply social pressure to those reluctant to comply with public health practices to do the right thing.

Strongly support. The good of the community far exceeds minor personal inconvenience.

Strongly oppose. I don’t have words to describe how strongly. Do not do this.

Just make it mandated. It does no harm and helps so much. People will always opt for convince of doing nothing if given the option. And they are putting so many others at risk

I oppose mandatory mask requirements, especially outdoors and for people with disabilities or illnesses.
During the summer how is it expected to exercise with a mask on outside. I believe in being cautious and not going out if sick, but does anyone think this being overly cautious is just weakening our immune system...it needs ‘exercise’ just like our bodies to stay healthy and effective

I support. This is a proper response based on scientific fact.

Please make face coverings in public mandatory. We all need to get the spread of this virus under control!

Wear a mask to protect your community, it's not complicated. "Individual Freedoms" should not overrule the health, well being and LIVES of others.

I strongly support the mask requirement as it is the only effective preventative measure we can take at this time

People with medical and physical disabilities will face increasing levels of harassment from the public if mask mandates go into effect.

Also, there have been no long term studies of the effects of masking children who still have developing lungs. The city and current council members could face massive lawsuits in 10-20 years if restricting oxygen is shown to have even the smallest negative effect on Milwaukee children’s development.
