I support mandating people wear masks in public places both inside and outside. I know people have freedom to choose whatever they want. However, people shouldn't put the public health in risk just because to fulfill their own will which is very selfish. It has been proved in lots of countries such as Taiwan, Japan, Korea and even China that wearing masks in public places could greatly help control the spread of covid. For those who oppose to wearing masks, I beg you not just think of yourself, please act as a good citizen, help the community, the economy and the country back to normal.

I strongly OPPOSE wearing masks outdoors! There is no reason to wear a mask or face covering outside, unless you’re at a “protest” or someplace that people are close together. You DO NOT need to wear a mask in your car (duh), you’re the only one there (or you’re with your own family). I refuse to wear a mask to walk my dog, to go for a run or walk. Also, it’s a virus!!! It’s not going away and we all will be exposed at some point. Stop taking away my constitutional rights to enjoy being outside WITHOUT a face cover. Controlling much? NO to masks outdoors!

I support mandatory masks for the city of Milwaukee to slow and ultimately stop the spread of Covid-19.

The next month will be crucial in protecting the elderly, the immunocompromised, those with preexisting medical conditions, the pregnant, and the unknown number of people who might have an extreme immune reaction to the virus. An easy, simple way in which we can mitigate the spread is through widespread mask-wearing. Masks act not only as protective barriers when used properly, but also as a reminder that we are in the midst of a pandemic & need to act accordingly. It is a social signal to others that we care about each other & are prioritizing our community’s safety.

I don't support the mask requirement. I work in Milwaukee but if the ordience passes, work is all I will ever do while in town. Judging from some of the comments I have read, I will not be alone.

I support this measure to help stop the spread of Covid-19. It is important to value community and worker health through this simple precautionary requirement.

Wearing a mask reduces the spread of Covid-19 substantially, it should absolutely be required.

I do NOT support the mask mandate. I should have a choice as to whether I want to wear one or not as should the various businesses. Last time I checked we still live in America, land of the free. People can choose to whether they would like to patronize a business or not based on their opinion on whether or not to wear a mask. Let people use common sense and wash their hands and keep their distance just like what we do when the cold and flu are going on.

While I do support wearing masks in public, I do not support a government mandate. My business has already enacted mandatory masks for both employees and customers. Why are we waiting on the government when we as a community can take the lead. This is nothing more than our newly elected public servants pandering to those who don't understand consequence. This mandate will only lead to fines for small businesses, and local profits spent at adjacent suburbs. While not unconstitutional, this mandate questions the autonomy of private business and the individual's ability to choose whom to support.

I would like to register my strong opposition to any resolution calling for mandatory masking in the city of Milwaukee. Any such ordinance is unnecessary, inconvenient, and ineffective, according to numerous medical authorities. To impose such a mandate on children five years old and older is harmful to their health and meental well being. Such a mandate is also clear governmental overreach, which will result in numerous costly, and most likely successful, lawsuits, given the recent rejection by the Wisconsin Supreme Court of Gov. Evers “Safer At Home” order.

People! This is NOT the plague! Or HIV. It is a common cold with a kick! The problem is the individual. The COMMON SENSE that they are lacking. For God sake, I've seen people piss right on a public sidewalk in broad daylight. Instead of the rediculous proposal of mandatory masks, which nobody's going to listen to anyway, start teaching people to grow up and get some good hygiene and habits. Is it me or is washing your hands after going to the bathroom something that just started this year?
Do you make out with someone with the flu or a cold? No. So, learn something new for once.

I support the mask mandate legislation. As a health and public policy student/researcher, I believe it is critical for the Milwaukee community to take immediate action to protect our citizens from COVID19 and it's devastating consequences. As a Milwaukee resident, I have been wearing a mask with pride. I do believe the Council could go beyond this current legislation (to further mandate for within 6 feet). Wearing a mask is one way we can reduce the risk and continue to support local businesses and workers while keeping them, our neighbors, and our own families safe. Thank you.

I support this mandate. Other than staying at home, this is the only other proven precaution one can take to prevent the spread of the virus. Additionally, mask wearing is only effective if all parties partake in the practice. It is also constitutional to mandate mask wearing: Jacobson v Mass 1905

As a business owner and employer of 60 employees, we need this more then ever. We need the city to back up restaurants and bars. We have enough on our plate dealing with the economics of how $&@?ed we are. I cannot keep arguing about wearing a mask. Do it because wearing one is the most humane thing you can do right now.
