s/b voluntary It seems that the common council and others pushing mandatory coverings may be under informed about the status of the flu in the city of MKE. The medical community has had success with cures (in the case of early intervention), and few people are succumbing to Covid. Since June 18 daily deaths have been minimal, on some days zero. June 30 to July 3 had only 1 fatality. If the city of Milwaukee has 585,000 people, with working population (downtown) increasing those numbers during the day, the trend shows that 1 person in the city of Mke has 6 one hundredths of one percent chnc

They should not be mandated. Everytime I go out in public I see masks on the ground and more than half of people using them improperly. We should have a choice if we want to wear one or not.

MasksUNHEALTHY for wearer+do nothing to protect others from microscopic virus;MasksHARMFUL TO humans.Wearing facemask reduces blood+tissue oxygenation-can be deadly-while increasing carbon dioxide levels.Masks increase risk of infection+spread of viral illness, hinder detox via exhale, impair immune system+cause many ailments physical+emotional. Positive "spikes" from falsely inflated computer models;CDC recognizes at this date Covid virus NOT a pandemic+at this time is NOT deadly threat to over 99.9% of populations;studies now indicate asymptomatic are definitely NOT any danger to spread it

I support the mask mandate! We must wear masks to support and protect our neighbors and family. Wearing a mask is a small personal inconvenience that is proven to reduce viral transmission risk and save lives! It's the cheapest and easiest way to decrease the virus numbers in our city and our state. Pass the requirement for face coverings!

Masks only work if everybody in the room is wearing them. It takes one person not wearing a mask to ruin it for everybody. The service industry is growing tired of serving people that are jeopardizing their health.

Most people who oppose say "if you're scared don't go out." but the reality is most of the people who are scared are working jobs serving people who refuse to protect people around them.

Masks should be mandatory to help slow the spread of covid. I don’t feel like my rights are being violated by wearing one because I’m not ignorant or selfish and I care about the safety of others. I wear a mask for 8 hours everyday I work and I’m still able to talk and breathe with one on. There’s absolutely no excuse to not wear one. I don’t want to see Milwaukee’s covid numbers continue to rise and rise.

Requiring masks in public is the right decision. In Sweden, they chose not to require masks, thinking that the sensibility of their people would prevail. It did not work, and Sweden now has 40% more deaths than the United States per million people. Their economy has also suffered as a result. The coronavirus acts the same in Milwaukee as it does in Sweden. The city should support residents in meeting the requirement, and should enforce it equitably. If you want to protect the health of your constituents, and mitigate damage to the local economy, you need to require masks.

Wearing a mask should most definitely be mandatory. As a dentist, I am now required to wear two masks when treating patients (N95 covered by a regular surgical mask). If I can handle this all day, people can surely handle wearing one while in a store or other public place. It’s been proven that wearing a mask protects those around you, so it’s the moral and unselfish thing to do. However, since so many people aren’t doing the right thing on their own, I believe that there needs to be legislation making masks required.

The public does not use masks properly. They are meant to be thrown away or washed after each use. Most people keep reusing the same mask for weeks. They get stuffed in purses and bags picking is bacteria and viruses along the way. My clients are constantly touching and moving their mask around adding more bacteria to their masks. Cloth masks are ineffective and give a false sense of security. Many people have a very hard time wearing a mask even briefly and get migraine headaches. We need to have the right to choose what works for our families.

I will not wear a mask. I'm essential worker I already wear one because its Mandatory, the violation of my rights is ridiculous! You can ticket me as u see fit, but I wont pay for a ridiculous ordinance. You as a city have better things to take care, do that instead. Clean up the city. Elect a new mayor. Stop the violence. feed the hungry. But leave me and my choices to me.

Masks are going to be the only thing for the foreseeable future that will help us “return to normal” We need everyone to be onboard for the communities physical well-being, as well as for the economy’s “health”

I strongly oppose. This attempt at control and infringement on our personal freedoms is unacceptable. If one feels that they need to wear a mask they absolutely should do so, without holding others accountable to their personal choices. There evidence to support mask wearing is contradictory at best, and has not been proven to be effective. This mandate is over the top and unreasonable.

The masks are not scientifically proven to be effective. This is a way to control people and infringe on our individual freedoms. I strongly oppose and hope more individuals support the individuals right to chose what is right for them and their family. If you feel compelled to wear a mask please do so, but don't force your fears on every one.

I *strongly* support mandating face-coverings. There's strong evidence of facial coverings being effective, and even more study-based evidence showing increasing urgency for masks. The refusal to wear a mask is irresponsible, ignorant, and selfish. Mandating facial coverings will remove the possibility that someone can get me or my family sick because they think a piece of fabric infringes on their freedoms. Please, the burning passion for 'freedom' by these highly individualistic clowns is what brought this on us. Mandate masks now, and maybe we'll make it to 2021.

I strongly support masks being required in public spaces! There are many reasons why America has failed so miserably at containing the spread of COVID compared to other countries, & one of them is that many of our citizens are either too selfish or too uneducated (or both!) to simply mask up in public and help keep our communities safe. I’m flabbergasted that there are people saying there is “no scientific evidence” to support this. Seriously? Google is free. America is already the laughing stock of the world - PLEASE do one thing right and make face coverings required in ALL public spaces.

This infringes on our personal rights and it's a very slippery slope. Strongly oppose this mandate!!
