Our infection rates are skyrocketing and we need to do something. Masks are the absolute minimum that should be required. In all crowded public places and all indoor public areas, a mouth and nose covering should be required

I oppose this ordinance. It should be the choice of the person to wear one or not.

The numbers aren't there, there were more deaths in 2018 from the influenza. Don't play "follow the leader", wake up MKE.

As a nurse working with covid patients, I strongly support required masks. Not only do they protect our health, but they also protect our small businesses and economy. As a reminder, masks do more good for the people around you than for yourself. Choosing not to wear one is a decision for the health of others, not for your own.

The mask mandate will allow businesses to remain open and operate safely while slowing the spread of the virus. This will help avoid a spike in cases that could lead to another strict shutdown that would further damage the economy.

This should be a business by business decision. Not a public mandate. Proposal is too extreme at that. 30’ outdoors? Cotton over your mouth won’t help much. N95 some. Provide full respirators if you want to do this.

If this is adopted, our family has spent our last dollar in Milwaukee. We will never shop, dine or do anything else in Milwaukee again.

STRONGLY SUPPORT, mask-wearing is one of the EASIEST and most effective methods of suppressing spread of the virus as has been proven in numerous other countries which adopted it as a method of protecting the health of their citizens early on, whether they closed businesses and the economy or not. The violent opposition to masks is a selfish and dangerous position to take and one that disregards the wellbeing of others in your community for your own personal comfort. WEAR A MASK.

We need to be logical about this and support the health of our city by mandating masks , I cannot fathom the response to not wear masks , do we not care about our fellow human being ? Are we that ill educated as a society where we think our rights are being infringed on if we try and protect the health and well being of our city ? Shame on the nay sayers .

There is plenty of empirical evidence that shows wearing face coverings dramatically reduces the chances of spreading virus' such as COVID-19. There is also empirical evidence that proves wearing masks does not affect blood oxygen levels. It must be done to protect public health.

I strongly oppose this ordinace. As someone who has suffered from the ill effects from masks, i ask why are we trying to force the minority, when the majority is already wearing masks? Is anyone asking the minority WHY they are making the choices they are?

I am writing in HUGE support of a mask mandate in the city of Milwaukee. It’s very discouraging to see the number of maskless faces in public – including two Milwaukee firefighters that I saw in the grocery store on Saturday, in their work gear but no masks at all. I was incredibly disappointed to see two government employees in public safety roles not doing the bare minimum to protect those around them. Please consider the physical and economic health benefits of the public, and mandate the wearing of masks until proper treatment, testing, and tracing are in place.

It is crucial and necessary for the city of Milwaukee to order all residents to wear a mask in order to slow the spread of the corona virus.

Please require mask wearing in public. Scientific study shows us that mask wearing is the most effective way to protect our friends, family and neighbors from contracting the virus. Masks reduce transmissibility and concentration of droplets that can accumulate, linger for hours and infect many. (Please read Prather et al, 2020: 10.1126/science.abc6197 - <10min) Requiring mask wearing is not an infringement on our liberty, but the opposite: mask wearing supports collective access to health. Mandated mask wearing is also essential as many are being forced back into group settings like school.
