If the flu vaccine is not mandatory then why should masks be? What gives you the right to dictate what is best for my family and I? Leave it up to each family/individual to determine what is best for them. Also, who is going to take responsibility for the side effects/complications caused by prolonged mask use? Prolonged mask use has been linked to increased airway resistance and increased carbon dioxide accumulation which leads to hypoxia. It also causes reduced natural immunity- per Dr. Russell Baylock a neurosurgeon (article published by Technocracy News on 5/18/20).

Face coverings have been proven to help slow the spread of COVID and it should be required to help protect the county.

I am a Bay View resident & oppose this ordinance. It is out of the city’s scope of practice to mandate mask wearing in other people’s homes if this is not the homeowner’s preference. This ordinance is another thing propagated to turn each other against one another and divide the community further in the sense that people will be calling in complaints about others, which makes me feel like I am living in the beginnings of Nazi Germany. If businesses want individuals to wear masks, this should be left up to the individual business to require masks if people want to enter.

We must wear masks to combat the spread of COVID-19. This is a public health crisis, and wearing a mask is such a simple thing to ask of people. I have asthma, anxiety, and an unborn baby pressing on my lungs all day, but I can handle it.

This is a sound idea based on Science and medical practice. Pass it.

I support this. It’s common sense. Masks have been proven to slow the spread, and are literally the simplest thing you can do to keep each other safe.

Testing the oxygen levels under different types of masks have proven that it is harmful. This is according to OSAH regulations. Not only does it not stop the spreading of the virus, it can actually make the wearer sick!!!

I STRONGLY OPPOSE! This is just another Socialist ploy to condition people to believing and submitting to whatever Big Brother and his phony experts say! Give people credit for some intelligence and let them decide what measures they will take to protect themselves and others.

Please vote in favor of an ordinance requiring face coverings in public spaces. The only way we can safely open businesses and schools is to reduce transmission of the virus. Epidemiologists and other experts have found that face coverings drastically reduce the spread of the virus and that widespread mask usage would allow us to safely resume many activities. Wearing a mask cannot be merely a personal choice because of how the virus spreads and the impact of one person’s actions on the health of others. Please support a public mask requirement.

Either way this goes, the if you choose to not wear a mask this go round, you should be forced to follow the same for the next virus...like Ebola. The argument that because it does not prevent, that a mask is not needed, is invalid. Science has shown reduced chance of spread. Kinda like putting on a seatbelt helps you survive, but doesn’t prevent an accident. Big fan of science here, just not the political type.

I understand the good intentions behind wanting to mandate masks. However, what is the point in making masks mandatory when people are able to take them off while eating at a restaurant? Mandating masks only strips milwaukeeans of their constitutional rights, while coronavirus cases rise and deaths do not. There is no need for this mandate. Also, note how people that don’t wear masks aren’t forcing others not to wear them as well. Be respectful of other people’s bodies. If you’re scared, wear your mask, but don’t make others do it just because of how you feel. Please, do not mandate masks.

This measure is crap. I read it. Don't even bother trying to pass this. Children 3 and older? Yeah right, my 4 year old won't wear one consistently and I'm not holding one on her face. Also, my 11 year old daughter has Cystic Fibrosis, she will not be wearing a mask outdoors in this heat. Stop trying to be dictators. For the people, by the people. Not against the people because you think you know better. You have NO idea how to better protect me and my family than I do. Do not try to force this on the people, we will vote you out of office if you do!

I am a huge supporter of everyone wearing masks! The more people that wear them the faster we get through this!

I support this ordinance because it promotes the health, safety, and general welfare of the community during the time of a deadly pandemic. This measure will help slow down the spread of a sickness that can permanently disrupt the quality of life of individuals in our community, and even kill them. I am grateful that our elected leaders have chosen to prioritize our entire community's health.
