Why are we letting fear drive our ordinances? Shouldn't we base the need for an ordinance on facts and a review of our fundamental rights? Viruses exist everywhere. Masks do not stop the spread - proper hygiene and limited face touching does. My body is my domain. Until I am sick and a danger to others, you have no right to impose any requirement on a healthy person. Healthy people don't spread the virus. And you cannot act as my parent to try and keep me safe (I'm 52 years old). Requiring masks is giving into fear. I choose not to live in fear. I refuse to follow a practice born out of fear.

If we want businesses to be able to remain open, we need to stop the spread and stop employees from being exposed.

Please have a strict mask mandate. The recommendations of the CDC and WHO are clear. We have had 807 deaths in our state already, and many more can be prevented with this mandate. Enforce and encourage a "no mask, no service" mentality within all our businesses.

Since the City of Milwaukee has continued to open up in phases and has not required the mandate of wearing a mask to do. I don’t see a need for it now. The City of Milwaukee’s Health Commissioner has the authority to mandate the wearing of masks.

Whether or not masks are safe/healthy does not override human freedoms. We must spend more time educating the public and less time mandating regulations for every person that removes personal choice. My body, my choice.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis

It’s really simple. Masks help prevent the spread of Covid-19. Science proves this. If people want to deny science and pretend to be experts or argue that this goes against their rights rather than wanting to help keep themselves and everyone else safe, then society will laugh at them because they’re silly. Masks should be mandatory because it’s the best we can do right now to help prevent the spread. It’s either that or we shutdown and stay at home again. The selfish stubborn people who think they’re too important to simply wear a mask really need to reconsider their priorities.

Some people don’t have a choice but to go out and work. If people continue to not wear masks more people will continue to get sick, Milwaukee’s numbers are outrageously high for cases. The mayors negligent reopening without any real guidelines set in place made a bad example to the people that this wasn’t serious. It is. We cannot be negligent in a time of crisis. We have to listen to educated people in a time of crisis. This is a crisis. This is a pandemic not a political battle. We need to listen to doctors, not Karen who throws a menopausal temper-tantrum when she doesn’t get her way.

My cousin is profoundly deaf and depends heavily on reading lips. This mandate will make the world inaccessible for an entire population. The deaf population in Milwaukee will literally be unable to work and function. Having him exempt from a mask requirement does nothing to help him to see other people's lips. PLEASE reconsider. Thank you for your time.

Please do the right thing to stop the spread of this disease. As we continue to see a rise in cases, it’s clear that the haphazard reopening plan has not been working. Folks who say people should just stay home if they don’t want to get sick are ignorant and callous. Scientists agree that masks work, let’s listen to them.

There is not enough solid evidence provided to show that mask wearing limits the spread of infectious disease. There is, however, evidence that shows clean water, organic foods, and less pollution affect health positively. Why aren’t we discussing our health instead of putting a mask on it? People do not even wear masks properly, and reuse the single use masks. Every time someone touches their masks without washing there hands, it needs to be replaced. No one is doing this.

I fear for my job and health if wearing masks is not mandated. The numbers show that people can’t be trusted to do it in their own. Please pass this legislation. It seems that the nay sayers are always loudest, but they are not the majority.

The science supports the fact that masks significantly slow the spread of COVID-19. This is necessary if we want businesses to continue to function and keep workers and customers safe. Please mandate this.

NO to mandatory masks! You cannot take a persons right to choose away! What pandemic? 99.9% of people SURVIVE!! Masks don’t do anything but make a political statement!

Though the extended and improper use of masks have given people the false sense of security, the proven and ongoing lack of hygenic care by those that wear the cloth masks do not protect as well as assumed. The social distancing and personal responsibility for limiting desease spread js the key to slowly exposing everyone to the virus and producing the herd immunity needed.

I wear my mask as much as possible but it does not seem right to mandate it out in public. If you do not want to get sick, do not go out and stay home. It’s as simple as that. For those of us that are low risk and want to go out in public we should not be required to wear a mask
