I am an asthmatic and oppose mandatory masking. It induces an asthma attack for me as I found out by experience at Menards. I will not be forced to wear one and if required will challenge it through the courts. I will do all my business outside our city if so required. For those who say it's a little cloth, please put a garbage bag over your head and tie it off. When you want oxygen let us know and we will help you to remove it.

As a small business owner, I support this mandate to protect my staff, our clients, and the community as a whole from contracting the virus and potentially closing businesses for months again.

Why now? The death rate is the lowest since March (4 deaths in 7 days), the hospitalization rates are stable (4 to 6% of beds dedicated to COVID patients), and a slight increase in the positive cases in asymptomatic people (20-29). The increase in cases is due to increased testing. Imagine the numbers of infected if anyone was tested in March/April? My main concern is when would it be removed? You can not enact such an intrusive requirement without clear, transparent, and measurable parameters for its discontinuation. This mandate will hurt Milwaukee businesses as people go elsewhere.

It is imperative that you all pass this ordinance. We know that when we wear masks, we significantly reduce the rate of transmission and community spread. Local municipalities in our state and around the country are passing mandates because they want to control this virus. COVID-19 disproportionately impacts marginalized communities, low-income folks, and essential workers. We need to show that we care for everyone. Let’s lead Milwaukee. Vote Yes, for this ordinance. Show us that you care about our health and our economy. Masks show that.

I support all people in Milwaukee being required to wear face masked while indoors in public.

This is pretty much the least we can do. Why is everyone blindly pretending things are getting better? Oh, right, because it's the people already deemed disposable who are dying at the most devastating rates. Please pass this and punish the selfish, self-righteous individualists who will undoubtedly defy it.

I strongly support this ordinance. Studies has repeatedly shown that consistent mask use within a community has a strong effect on the reduction of transmission, while posing no danger to the wearer. I wish we did not need an ordinance for people to do the right thing for their community, but it is clear that the nonchalance of many is rapidly driving up our infection rate.

I appreciate members of the council wanting to do something to help Milwaukeeans. Unfortunately this mandate does more harm than good. We can't look only at 1 issue when trying to make a change like this, and disregard the harm it will cause in other areas.
Laws, ordinances, and mandates are already unequally enforced in our city, with marginalized communities (especially those in poverty and people of color) being disproportionately targeted for enforcement.
This will also hurt our economy as people go out of MKE to spend money in places w/o the mandate.
Covid deaths are declining. Vote no

Face masks absolutely should NOT be mandatory. There is little evidence to support effectiveness and there is also evidence to support they are harmful. Especially with how people are currently using them. Death rates are going down and there is no reason to implement any extra, unnecessary measures.

Mask mandates are highly discriminatory. Those who are unable to wear masks face ever increasing harassment from the community and enforcement officers.

I strongly OPPOSE this ordinance. This is a personal choice and shouldn't not be forced on anyone. I will not COMPLY with this order. You simply cant force people to do this. This is America and we have choices. This COVID19 is NOT going away just like the flu. You can issue all the citations you want and all your creating is for the public who are opposed to hire attorneys and sue the city of Milw. Its a vicious cycle. No child will wear them at that age. It comes down to being educated and Smart. More businesses will close due to consumers not supporting business that support this ordinance.

I believe wearing a mask should be a personal choice and should not be mandated for anyone to wear in any space at any time.

I strongly support the mandated mask rule. Everyone should have the right to go outside (when necessary) and not be possibly infected by an unmasked carrier of COVID-19. It is a simple step we can all take to drastically prevent the spread of the virus. This will lead us to a safer, quicker reopening of the state. We don’t want to end up like other places. Please enforce this!

Enough with the politicization of this issue. You either want to save lives and help slowdown this virus by wearing a mask or you want to be an instigator. If you don’t understand the facts regarding wearing masks then educate yourself and mask up! It’s just a piece of cloth for crying out loud!

Please mandate the wearing of masks, indoors always and outdoors when within 6ft of others. We need to protect each other, and that can only happen if EVERYONE is participating, not just the people who feel like it that day. We are all tired of wearing masks, but the longer this goes unmandated, the longer we are going to have to do this.

I strongly support this and urge you to pass it. Wearing face coverings is the bare minimum we can do to stop the spread, and other countries with mandates have proven that this is effective. Our local businesses support this as well - please don't put our workers' lives at risk. Wisconsin cases are climbing! We need to care about others and our community and keep each other safe.

No government, federal, state or local, has the authority to mandate I wear a mask. It would be a gross abuse of your authority.
Furthermore, it has proven not to work as we've been told and may in fact do more harm than good. I refuse to comply with such a tyrannical mandate.
