I wholly oppose the forced wearing of face masks. It is not the place of government to dictate what a person should be made to wear. Do you not realize that the mandating of mask wearing will inevitably turn into them mandating the wearing of shackles. It is time to wake up and take a stand.

Now that we know that Covid 19 spreads through aerosol droplets, masks are a necessity.

The air under a mask does not even meet OSHA requirements for air quality

I was considered “essential” during the shutdown. I have to work, because I am the sole wage earner in my house. I am also immunocompromised. Since we’ve reopened, I’ve been screamed at and physically assaulted by customers telling me it’s “their right” to not wear a mask. “Their right” is spreading germs, exposing themselves, exposing everyone around them. It’s honestly appalling that people don’t care about the people around them enough to cover their faces. I wear one of these ten hours a day. You can wear one for an hour while you’re out doing “leisure” shopping that isn’t necessary.

I strongly support this. This is a public health crisis. There is strong evidence that masks work, we need to be trusting of scientists and current research to help protect everyone.

I support face coverings being mandated in public areas. According to various health experts, this is a critical step in stopping the spread of the corona virus. This should not be a political debate. Face coverings are about keeping yourself AND your community safe/healthy. It’s time we adopt a more collective perspective on this matter!

Strongly against this mandate. There are a lot of proven negatives to wearing masks and those also need to be considered! Masks are for sick people, not healthy people and as we approach community heath, we should be looking at things that help people stay healthy not make them more susceptible other diseases. This should not be a one sided decision but we need to look at the costs to a mandate (including increases mental health issues).

It violates my personal rights. I don’t need government to decide about my health decisions. I need government to protect my liberties.

We need this to protect our citizens and prevent the spread. Vote yes!

Absolutely not! The longer this virus is in our country, the lower the death rate becomes. High risk individuals are free to wear a mask, but this needs to be a personal decision. Also, as more and more people contract Covid-19 and then recover, fewer and fewer people will have any reason to be wearing a mask.

Have we forgotten the importance of solid, informed, effective public health? Can't we make sacrifices for others, and work together--voluntarily--for the greater good? Other countries have PROVEN that masks decrease spread so economies can move on. It's a simple thing we can do until there's a vaccine. But we ALL have to do it. SMALL personal sacrifices like wearing masks and WORKING TOGETHER is the only way to beat this. If some wear masks, but not all, this won't work. Sadly, if people aren't willing to do this voluntarily, it's in the best interest of society as a whole, to REQUIRE it.

There is no scientific evidence that masks work at stopping any virus! This is about control! Our “leaders” continually are caught in public with face masks down because they know it’s not about science it’s about taking our freedoms from us! Political people supporting mandatory masks will not be re-elected because we will sue the pants off them!!!

The number of positive tests has increased because there are more tests given yet the death rate has decreased. Most deaths have occurred in nursing home situations and not in the general public. Natural heard immunity happens when you allow the spread of an illness-these is a good thing. Flattening the curve has never been about stopping the spread. Masks should be a personal choice. Do not take our freedom of choice away.

If the forced wearing of masks is implemented in Milwaukee, all business I conduct there will be terminated immediately.

I fully support this. This is a common sense issue and an effective way to save lives and limit spread.

Every person deserves the ability to make their own decisions. I feel decisions should be made based on facts rather than theory. Please see "The Highwire" for more information on the way masks can be detrimental to our emotional and physical health. The constitution should be followed when it comes to making overarching decisions for the public.

This is not a first ammendment issue. This is a crisis and desperate times call for desperate measures. We must stand united together to kick this thing. In addition to face masks, I think all public businesses should be required to have at least one hand sanitization stand.

This isn't about a freedom to choose. I am not allowed to smoke cigarettes in a pubic place because of the health and safety of others, this should be no different!

This ordinance is essential to the health and safety of Mlwaukee residents. I urge all committee members and council members to support this.
