Although I personally wear a mask in indoor public places, I do not believe it should be mandated or enforced by city government. There is not enough science behind the impact/health risk of wearing mask coverings for prolonged periods of time, or during exercise. In practice, I suspect people will wear masks incorrectly (ie under their nose so they can breathe comfortably).

I oppose government mandated masks. This is about personal freedom and people deciding what is safest for themselves. Research does not back the mandate and even severity of COVID has waned in the last two months. We are at record lows for hospilizations, ICU beds from COVID and COVID related deaths. This mandate is nothing but overreach.

I support this. Please listen to science and don’t make this a political issue. Mask save lives. It’s that simple. Look at other countries, lower numbers because they wear mask.

Marks are a personal choice. Cases are up, but so is testing. The data does not support mandating masks.

Masks should be a personal choice, not a mandate.

As an owner of multiple establishments we need a mask mandate. This will protect our staffs and guests while allowing our business to grow. Move Milwaukee forward safely!

I fully support masks being required in public as Wisconsin’s COVID numbers soar.

Please require masks. It's relatively easy, relatively cheap, and when multiple people wear them, they greatly reduced the risk of infection.

Although I personally wear a mask in public, I do not believe they should be mandated with the threat of a fine. I know what that translates to - fines to POC.

As a healthcare professional, I am in support of this measure. Wearing a mask is a safe and effective way to reduce the spread of this respiratory disease. I do think it is important to include education on how to properly wear a mask (covering nose AND mouth).

STRONGLY OPPOSE! Deaths and hospitalizations are down without the use of masks. Flattening the curve was about the same number of people getting the disease over prolonged period of time. This was to not inundate the hospital system beyond captivity. Less than 250 of our hospital beds are being used for COVID-19 in the entire state. Out of 11,000 beds. this is completely unnecessary. Increased number of cases identified is not a metric by which all policies should be based on. Use common sense. Deaths and hospitalizations are the things we are trying to avoid. MANDATE IS NOT NECESSARY!!!!

I strongly oppose this mandate. We have the right to body autonomy for ourselves and our children. It has been scientifically proven that anything other than a properly fit respirator mask will NOT protect you from any infectious illness. They go against OSHA LAWS, will only reduce oxygen levels, increase CO2 toxicity, increase your chance of a respiratory infection from breathing in toxic expelled air, causes skin irritations from trapped bacteria around the mouth. Face coverings DO NOT PROTECT YOU and are not about our health and safety, they are purely symbolic.

Please require masks in public, especially within 6 feet. Science supports this. Milwaukee and Wisconsin overall were leaders in taking steps to reduce the 1918-1920 pandemic. Let's model care for each other and ourselves again.

Please require masks to be worn in Milwaukee. As a teacher, I am anxious for what the fall will look like. By requiring people to wear masks in public, we can reduce the number of cases of the virus in Milwaukee and make it a little safer for everyone. This is a public health issue and a no brainer. Wearing a mask can save lives of other people without bringing any harm to the wearer. We know this virus ravages bodies and has lasting effects on many people. We need to trust the scientists and researchers and do all we can to prevent the spread. This is not the flu.
