I support this item. However, I saw the first offense is a warning and the second offense is between a $50 and $500 fine. Is there going to be a clarification on what would be a $50 fine and what would be a $500 fine? I am worried that like the safer at home ordinance MPD will overwhelmingly target and give the larger fines to people of color.

The mask mandate should be strongly opposed and ESPECIALLY for the outdoors. The science supporting masks as a preventive tool is inconclusive and controversial. The falling death rate and very very small infection rate for our population further does not support the use of masks. Many are unable to wear masks for a number of health reasons. Businesses should be able to set their own policies and individuals should be responsible for their own health. Lastly, this will further damage already struggling City's businesses as patrons will take their business outside of city limits in protest.

I am extremely opposed to a mandatory mask policy! It is NOT the job of public servants to force rules down on people, not in America at least!! It is the job of public servants though to inform the public and then let them (the public) make the decision(s) thats best for them and their family. If people want to wear a mask they can, but you can NOT make me wear one. The virus has a 99.98% survival rate! And of course cases are going up Bc they are counting probable cases as full on cases, look it up! We are being fooled and enough is enough. I will never wear a mask Bc it’s about control!!

So when the ill-thought out DHS idea failed by way of the State Supreme Court, the city council committee decided they need to decree an ordinance and force compliance from the people who elected them instead? How about talk directly to people and businesses and you'll find out that they are taking their own steps to ensure the health and safety of themselves and those around them, stranger or not. Not general polls, I mean actually walking the district you serve and talking to residents. Otherwise, I feel the people should respond by electing new officials.

Masks are the our front line defense against COVID 19. Masks are more effective if all parties are wearing them. This is why it can't be a personal choice. The city of Milwaukee must protect its citizens from unnecessary illness and death by putting into place rules that support the safety and health of all based on science and the recommendations of the CDC

This proposal will make Milwaukee safer by limiting the transmission of Coronavirus. I support all public health measures backed by scientists and experts.

Opposed.... Horrible for already struggling businesses! Mean while same staff and customers without just over the city line.
virus doesn't see boundries and it will spread regardless of MKE does masks.
Absolutelyy silly, inconsistent and unconstitutional. It will also drive businesses away from mke! Don't be fooled by fraudulent misrepresenting coalitions pushing propaganda and political agendas. They do not represent the majority and their stats are biased.

I am all in favor of a mandate that will help businesses stay open while protecting public health. This is a small price to pay to keep people safe and keep our retail sector that employees and supports thousands going.

It is critical that we show up for one another at this time. Whether we are sick, exhibiting symptoms, or not, it is our duty to our fellow humans to limit the spread of this virus. And the LEAST we can do is wear a mask in public places. We need all of us healthy and our communities whole. Hope this measure passes and we all do our parts to limit the spread of covid.

I believe healthcare is a personal responsibility. This can look like different things for different people, & might not mean wearing a mask for everyone. As individuals we must make this choice for ourselves.

I do not agree that the government forcing its citizens to wear masks in public is just in a free society. My health as it relates to my body is my choice.

If the committee should choose to mandate masks & my voice gets drown out by my opposition, I would demand that the committee put into place a scientific measure that determines when masks are no longer needed.

    Thank you.

I own a business and then concerned about the mask mandate. How would I handle this situation? A customer comes in my business and says he cannot wear a mask due to a health exemption so I allow him in without a mask. Now another customer comes in and sees the person without a mask but doesn’t know that they are exempt for health reasons. What if they call my business in and say I’m not following rules even though that person is exempt. How is my license protected and how would you handle this situation.

397 divided 12,834 = .030% This is the Death Rate in Milwaukee, WI. There is no reason for a Mandatory Face mask Mandate for the City of Milwaukee. Especially when there is an 80% recovery rate in Wisconsin. We need to take care of the Elderly and the People with underlying health condition! But to Mandate Healthy people to wear mask is Ludicrous! It's time to Stop pushing this False Political Agenda! It shouldn't be about Democrat or Republican but about Serving the People! Me and my Family won't be wearing Mask even if they Mandate them! It's all about using Common Sense!

Many people are forced to work in these public spaces. Those of us who do are at high risk of getting infected by people who refuse to wear masks. We have no choice as employees, we must show up to work. But people who do not want to wear masks and don’t have to be on the front lines can chose to stay home. The more this virus spreads, the longer we will be forcing businesses to shut down, people to be unemployed, and the economy to fail. We need to force people who don’t care about the repercussions of their actions to save our citizens lives and prevent worse economic hardship.

It is beyond absurd to invoke mandatory masking at this time for a virus that has been circulating for 6+ months, which has a death rate of O.26%, and for which there is cost effective treatment with a 99.7% success rate TheZelenkoProtocol.com). I don’t even have words to describe how ridiculous it is to require a mask to walk to ones table, and then remove it to eat/drink. You have lost your minds. Clearly this has nothing to do with science. I attempted to link actual science that explains why this is a horrific idea, but the character limit won’t accept it. Many will boycott the city.

I oppose the mandatory face mask rule. Especially having to wear them outside. It should be up to every individual whether they choose to wear one or not.

No mask mandates. Masks are dangerous to people’s health. Please do not allow this to pass or I will leave Wisconsin for good
