I support strongly recommending masks and disagree with the requirement and possibility of fines as consequence because Milwaukee has too strong a history and present of targeting it's Black and Brown communities with citations.

This is a public health crisis. We should absolutely adopt measures that are non-invasive and are proven to reduce the spread of Covid. If we fail to do this simple but highly effective step we will only live to regret it.

This is a ridiculous overreach. If this passes City of Milwaukee businesses will suffer. You should be spending your time finding ways to protect the few that are vulnerable to this disease not passing policies that effect the majority of people that wont even need to see a doctor if they get this disease. Sure infection rates are going up but hospital stays and death rates are going down.

I do not support a mask mandate. If you want to make them more readily available to people, fine. But mandating masks puts many populations at a huge disadvantage, like the deaf community, hard of hearing, victims of sexual violence, etc, not just those with upper respiratory conditions. Nothing is preventing citizens from wearing masks right now, so by all means encourage it, but mandating it is going way too far. We’re going to regret letting people instill this degree of fear and paranoia in our children sooner than we imagine.

While I support the wearing of masks, I cannot support a law to that effect. It reeks of unconstitutionality and shifts the financial burden onto the very people vital to the repair and regrow of the economy: business owners. Worse, it will have a disproportionate effect on small local businesses who are often struggling enough to just run their business and keep it operating through the past few months and/or rebuilding it in the coming months without also having to act as "mask police", weighing the cost-benefit of paying the fine versus turning away customers. Good intention, bad idea.

You don't shut down during flu season, you don't force masks during flu season. There's a reason why Democrat led cities like Milwaukee have sucked, and this is one of those reasons. If people want to risk getting it, let them. And those who are afraid can stay home.

I support wearing a mask in public places. It is the easiest thing we can do to help slow the spread and save lives.

Your mask mandate is unconstitutional, violates the ADA (Americans with disabilities Act). According to ADA masks are not required anywhere in America. No business may deny you service because you refuse to wear a mask. In addition, citizens don’t have to disclose their medical condition under ADA. Have you briefed local businesses that a violation of ADA is punishable by a fine up to $75,000 ? SCOTUS requires a constitutional right to medical privacy and further rights are protected under the 5th amendment. If you pass this mandate you open up Milwaukee businesses to legal action.

The WHO recently stated that through their research with contact tracing, asymptomatic transmission is extremely rare. Although the number of cases may be increasing (due to exponentially increased testing being done), the death rate is quickly dropping. This week, the CDC reported that since the death rates are decreasing, soon CV19 will not be categorized as an epidemic! If a business wishes to enforce the use of masks upon their customers, they have every right to do so. But those who choose not to, have that right as well. And we, the consumers, have the choice of which business to support.

Many of Us in the Inner city, and everywhere have NOT received any unemployment ,or any financial assistance
Most of us do NOT have Air Conditioning or Pools..
You Have CLOSED all the Pools
You have reinstated parking and bus fares
and Now you want to force us to wear masks, and subject us to more fines and restrictions
STOP THE MADNESS Let Us have the Freedom to make our own choices
Does the City of Milwaukee really care about Black Lives

    1) Outdoor component needs to be removed.
    2) "Possession" is ridiculous. It's irrelevant whether I have a mask in my pocket when walking by myself.
    3) Indoor element has too many holes to be of use: as long as indoor dining is allowed, it is clear the city is not taking this seriously.
    4) Why are only government and education facilities exempt with approved mitigation plan? Seems like private businesses should be afforded EQUAL treatment.
    5) If schools, universities, restaurants, bars, etc. are going to be open, the disease will spread anyway.
    6) This infringes on freedom!

Wearing a face covering in a public space is not an individual choice, but a collective decision to protect the community of Milwaukee. Health experts have expressed that masks are most effective when all parties are wearing them. Milwaukee must require face coverings in public spaces to prevent the spread of illness and potential death in our community. We must implement this now so our lives will get closer to “normal” at a faster rate.

Do Not mandate masks!!!! It's our choice to wear one or not. 30 ft is far fetched. What happened to 6ft that got tossed out the window. Really a 2 or 3yr old running around with a mask on might last few min or so. Let's be realistic about this.
    Let's Get Businesses Open !!!!!!!
Leave it up to the businesses to mandate it during these times. They are the ones that hurting the most. Some will, some will not. Will be our choice to shop there or not. At least the choice has been given. It's up to us keep moving forward.

This mask mandate is in complete opposition to our freedoms as Americans. Let the businesses who want to require masks do so and let the American consumer decided when and where to take their business. As of today, according to wha.org, there are 274 people in the hospital with Covid including 74 in ICU. There are 5.8 million people in the whole state. Why masks now? 5 months after the beginning of this pandemic? The curve has been flattened. The goal was never to keep EVERYONE from getting Covid but to give hospitals time to prepare. We've done that. You can't keep moving the goalposts.

Strongly oppose, especially since there is no defined endpoint for the mandate. “The duration of the pandemic” is vague and subjective. Every time a benchmark has been reached (flatten the curve, lower mortality rate, etc), a new one is set, which eliminates all credibility of those enacting such ordinances. If masks are truly effective, than anyone wearing them should be safe from anyone not wearing one. Businesses can decide whether to require them and individuals can choose where to go based on their perceived risk.
