I do not agree that face coverings should be mandated. There are many people who cannot wear a mask for various reasons and it makes it really hard, if not impossible, for them to do their shopping or getting out in public if masks are required. Even if there are exceptions, they will always stand out and be subject to harrassment. Also, if masks really work, then the people that wear them should be fine. This virus isn't going anywhere and we can't be required to wear masks forever. There should be freedom to choose.
I strongly oppose mandating masks. There are so many issues that people don’t consider. I cannot wear a mask because I have PTSD from being held against my will and sexually assaulted. I had tape over my mouth for days. I have panic attacks if anything is on my face or neck and often pass out from hyperventilating if having an attack. So I have to either risk my mental and physical health or explain my past to a random person at stores!!!??? Just to get food or essentials fir my family. This is insane. I cannot live like that.
Strongly support. Masks aren’t a personal choice, they are a proven strategy to protect others. Just like we have laws that you can’t drink and drive because of the harm you may cause to other people, masks in this pandemic are for the good of the whole community.
Masks have proven to be incredibly effective in preventing viral transmission. With WI being the #1 state of covid growth, we need to protect each other and the economy. Local business can’t shut down due to covid or they may never open back up again. Masks would help significantly. It’s little to no inconvenience to wear a mask.
For the greater good, I strongly support mandating masks indoors and outdoors in situations where there are people within 10' of one another.
Masks have been proven to be the most powerful device when looking to reopen businesses and easing the strain on area clinics.
Enforce first with written warning, then with fine that can be waived if completed online educational session about civic duty and community responsibility.
I fully oppose this. As a mother I will not stand by to see my or my family’s freedoms be taken away. If anyone feels safe wearing a mask, they have the freedom to do so. Masks create an unsafe work environment according to OSHA’s safety standards for the lack of proper oxygen levels. The majority of people do not wear them properly by repeat use and touching of the face, therefore increasing risk of bacterial growth and infection. Do not take the freedom to choose how we see best fit to protect our health and our families.
Strongly support the requirement of masks in public spaces and business. It is imperative that individuals be required to wear masks to help protect the health of our community.
I completely support the use of masks in public. This is not a violation of rights in any way. It is an easy, common sense measure that can save lives and slow the spread of a dangerous disease. To oppose such a measure would be selfish, dangerous, and short-sighted.
If kitchen workers can wear face coverings while sweating over a hot grill because they want to save lives, then theres no reason everyone else can do the same. This is not a left v right issue. This is a common sense issue regarding the lives of the people in our city. People have shown that they wont wear masks because theyre so self consumed theve lost sight of the big picture. Put laws in place to stop the spread of this disease..dont be f-ing cowardice to the pressure from uneducated people.
Strongly support masking in public spaces and all businesses. This is the simplest thing we can do that has the greatest impact on our fellow community members. Yes, masks can be uncomfortable. No one WANTS to wear them. But, my discomfort is less important than protecting my neighbors.
Requiring a mask is the simplest way we can improve safety during the Covid- 19 outbreak for everyone, including those in our city who face increased risk due to their health, yet will be required to interact with the public to remain employed (and thus insured), as more things reopen.
ABSOLUTELY OPPOSED. 1) Milwaukee County has gone nine days without a single coronavirus-related death, signaling that Milwaukee is nearing the end of the danger period for this virus. Implementing a new restriction now makes no sense at all. 2) A new mask law will create more situations of conflict between police and communities, exactly the thing we don't need more of. 3) Cloth masks do nothing to stop coronaviruses, which at 0.1 microns are too small. 4) People's misuse of the masks (such as using a dirty mask) will create more harm to user than not wearing any at all. 5) My body, my choice!
Milwaukee absolutely needs this mandate. Too many people are not taking this seriously and people will die as a result. Having already lost a friend to COVID, I think this minimally invasive expectation is so little to ask of the public when so much is at stake. Pass the mask mandate and be on the right side of history.
I work in the service industry and COVID is spreading through us like wildfire. Owners and workers alike are terrified of what another large scale, prolonged closure would mean for us. Livelihoods are on the line here. Please don’t turn your back on us.

This ordinance needs to be passed - WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO SAVE LIVES - DO THE RIGHT THING!

Fully support. Milwaukee has an opportunity to be an example for this country on how to properly address a detrimental global pandemic.

This is unconstitutional. I do not support this.
Completely support this! It’s about keeping us healthy and safe
