I do NOT support this ordinance! Face masks should be a choice!

I support this effort to, collectively, slow the spread of Covid-19 and protect members of our community.

I am adamantly opposed to ANY face coverings anywhere for healthy people. If you want me to do any business in Milwaukee this ordinance must NOT be passed.

I STRONGLY DISAGREE as masks are not required AT ALL and this is unsafe

The decisions are inconsistent and the science isn’t solid. Most people don’t wear masks correctly which would defeat the purpose if masks made a difference. In addition there is no solid science to prove that there is no harm from wearing masks, especially for extended periods of time. Because of that, where there is a risk, or the possibility of a risk in the absence of quality research in either direction, there must be a choice.

I think it is complete government overreach. We have the right to decide for ourselves whether using a mask is necessary or not.

Will the Health Dept. be dispatching ambassadors to enforce this ordinance? If not, I’m concerned that some Milwaukee residents will self-appoint to hold people accountable, thereby creating possibly tense situations. How are you going to advise residents to deal with these possible confrontations? There are a multitude of problems that will accompany this ordinance and since the solutions to these problems are not part of the current plan, it absolutely CANNOT become an ordinance. If a small group makes a decision for over 1/2 million people, the details need to be fully fleshed out. Vote no.

Thank you for proposing this ordinance. Mask wearing and face coverings are backed across the world by scientists to reducing the spread of COVID-19 and is essential to keeping our workers, families, and communities safe amid this pandemic. I support this ordinance.

It's about time! We should have been wearing them since March. Who wants to be the one to cause another's death?

Masks will help us slow the spread and protect immune-suppressed individuals from grave illness and potential death. We need to do what is best for our communities as a whole. That means wearing masks.

Read the legislation before commenting people. Indoor mask use is such a simple way to significantly reduce risk while allowing businesses to otherwise operate as normal!
Outdoor spaces you do not need a mask unless you’re basically face to face close quarters conversing with someone, which is rare anyways!
Common sense while removing our ego from the dialog should point to a simple and effective measure passing!
    Be cool-wear a mask!

I strongly OPPOSE this ordinance. Forcing people to wear masks is a big step in the wrong direction. Our elected officials need to make a decision that not only improves our physical health, but also our mental health and financial health. The curve is well flattened. Deaths have dramatically declined. Plenty of space in the hospitals and plenty of ventilators. This is a great chance for MKE to do the right thing and take another step toward reopening.

Some quotes from an MD article:
"By wearing a mask, the exhaled viruses will not be able to escape and will concentrate in the nasal passages, enter the olfactory nerves and travel into the brain."
"It is evident from this review that there is insufficient evidence that wearing a mask of any kind can have a significant impact in preventing the spread of this virus."

Are we considering those with current respiratory issues? This could increase the death toll and the death toll is currently on the decline-OPPOSE
