No RCT study w/verified outcome show mask effectiveness against viruses. No exceptions. There are many studies showing that they do cause harm though. "Face Masks Pose Serious Risks To The Healthy"

When wearing a mask, exhaled viruses will not be able to escape & will concentrate in the nasal passages, enter the olfactory nerves & travel into the brain.

I support a requirement that everyone who is able wear a mask in public. Medical professionals seem to agree that this is a relatively simple thing that can be done to significantly decrease community transmission. We should follow the science and do what we can to keep our community safe.

I support a city-wide requirement to require mask wearing for those who are able to. Mask wearing reduces the spread of COVID and protects others when you are out in public. We need to do more to reduce the spread of COVID and wearing masks is a simple way to do that.

You didn’t have to storm the beaches of Normandy - do your part to stop the spread of Covid-19. Over 100K people dead. I support a city-wide requirement to wear a mask in public places.

I fully support making everyone wear a mask mandatory. We have seen mask wearing become political and it is not! It is medical! Covid rates are going up because people won't wear a mask. It is not about your "comfort" or political views, it is about keeping people alive. This is actually a life or death issue.

I support a city-wide requirement to wear masks. They lower the rate of COVID and we all need to be banding together to overcome this.

I support a citywide masking policy for public spaces, mandating mask wearing for those physically able.

Wearing a mask protects people around you way more than it actually protects you. Every person that comes near you without wearing one is risking your health regardless if you are wearing one or not.

It's unfair that I wear a mask at a grocery store or corner store or work to protect them while others won't do the same for me. This is a pandemic and it isn't always going to be easy or fun. If we keep doing what we're doing or further open the city without requiring masks it's just going to close again once covid gets out of control.

My family and I strongly support mandating mask-wearing, especially given the risks we know about transmission. As a front-line worker myself, it’s incredibly disheartening to see so many Wisconsinites disregard science and put other’s lives at risk for their own sense of civil liberty. It’s clear that the states that require mask-wearing in public will better contain the spread of this disease. Please act swiftly on behalf of our entire community’s health and well-being. It will ultimately allow us to move forward towards re-opening our economy in the safest way possible and save lives

I literally get a headache anytime I have to wear a mask for more than one minute. The company I work for requires us to wear a mask when we are walking around the facility or when we are talking with someone closer than 6 feet away. This seems reasonable as it allows for social distancing without causing people unnecessary health problems (there is research showing that wearing a mask for long periods of time is detrimental to EVERYONE'S health, not just people that have health issues). I don't think it is reasonable to require people to wear a mask in public.

I support a mask ordinance. Locally, state-wide and nation-wide, we already make small sacrifices of comfort (that are mandated by law) to protect ourselves and others. Mask-wearing during a pandemic should be no different.

My personal health choices should never be mandated. It should remain a personal choice.

I strongly support a mandated mask policy across the city of Milwaukee. Masks have been proven to help lower the likelihood of infection and, when used properly with good social distancing, can be immensely helpful to the population as a whole. You do not wear a mask for yourself, you wear a mask for everyone around you, your children, your parents, your friends and family. While I definitely understand and sympathize with those who cannot wear one due to legitimate health concerns or trauma, the idea of refusing because "freedom" or discomfort is completely reckless and careless.

I support a city wide masking policy. The city is reopening not because it's safe to do so but in order to push low wage and other vulnerable workers off of unemployment. If service industry and essential workers have to choose between a paycheck that pays their rent, supports and feeds their family and their health the least we can do as a community to protect them is to wear a mask.
