Our co-op requires masks and our staff, members and customers appreciate our concern for the safety of our community. Please pass this and make it easier for all businesses to enforce mask wearing in their establishments.

No public mandate. Let businesses decide for themselves

The CDC and top medical experts around the globe encourage the use of masks. There is no question about its effectiveness. Please keep Milwaukee safe

I very strongly oppose a mask wearing policy. I believe that it should be your choice to wear one. People should not breath in the air that they have exhaled. Rebreathing CO2 can lead to increased blood pressure, headaches, muscle twitches, rapid heart rate, chest pain, confusion, and fatigue. Each business should be able to make a decision as to whether or not the want to require a mask. This is America - home of the free- and this is infringing on my civil liberties.

COVID-19 needs to be taken very seriously, especially given its impacts reflect deep racial inequities in the city. However, I'm concerned about how this will impact marginalized people: How will the mandate be enforced? How will it impact on people without PPE access, or people who need support in adopting a new practice like mask wearing? Will enforcement lead to ticketing or jailing? Will enforcement lead to financial consequences that result in jailing - further increasing spread in the city? Will MPD murder a black man because he wasn't wearing a mask, or because his mask was suspicious?

I am against mandate mask for Milwaukee City. The government should not be telling businesses what they have to do to stay open, it should be up to said business what requirements they issue for their employees/patrons. If there is a business that wants only masked patrons then so be it, but you telling everyone what to do is not part of our FREEDOMS!! Leave us alone, this is a virus that will never go away just like the common cold, flu, pneumonia, etc. Let us the people decide for ourselves what we feel is appropriate for ourselves and our families!! This is a temporary measure, based on science, that will protect customers and workers alike. Everyone wants to get back to a sense of normal. This is a small inconvenience to achieve that goal.

As a STEM student, I urge Milwaukee to be on the side of science, reason, and empathy. Let us join other developed nations in taking strides to protect our city and the people we love. Masks save lives.

I’m not convinced that Covid-19 is the plague we once thought it was. I’ve seen mortality rates as low as 0.2% from the CDC. Wearing a mask should be a choice not a citywide mandate.

Unless you are willing to stop collecting for taxes, licenses, etc you need to leave what businesses choose to enforce up to them.Plenty of businesses are requiring masks & that is their RIGHT as is a person's CHOICE to patronize them.Stop with the control & treating adults as children.Unless you have a SOLID plan & are willing to GIVE everyone adequate masks, just STOP already. You should have done this 4 months ago, not going into phase 4.What happened with the curfew? Was that enforced? We don't need more gov control. How about getting our crime under control.People are getting killed DAILY.

I'm against a mask wearing mandate, per se. However, I do think that the City of Milwaukee should offer an incentive & push for businesses to require masks. Businesses should absolutely require their employees & patrons to wear masks, but I don't see why a mandate is necessary, or who would enforce it. If businesses had signage stating that they require masks, & enforce their policy, then wouldn't that be enough? The City could keep an easily accessed directory of businesses that have mask wearing policies. Being listed could even be the incentive for these businesses to require masks.

Just wear a mask. It’s the least we can do. If everyone did it voluntarily then ordinances wouldn’t need to be passed. So let’s all suck it up, grow up, and mask up, so we can maybe sometime actually open up.

Yes, masks suck. But people dying sucks more. Naysayers stop being selfish!

This is government overreach, plain and simple. None of this makes any sense since according to your own data COVID-19 deaths and positive cases are falling, not rising. I am completely opposed to a mandate. If people aren’t comfortable they should stay home. End of story.

Everyone deserves to feel safe in public. Wearing a mask is a small ask for the greater good of public health and is supported by empirical data.

If you need a refresh on the topic of caring about others, there are some Mr Rogers and Sesame Street episodes streaming. Wearing a mask is such a small inconvenience - why not do what you can to stop the spread of this disease? Think of the essential workers providing for your needs. Think of the healthcare workers putting in overtime caring for a massive amount of patients. Wearing a mask is not just about you. It's a global crisis...and you can help slow its growth.

I support a city wide requirement to wear masks for those who are safely able to do so. It is a small gesture that can make a large impact if widely adopted. It should not be seen as an infringement on your freedom but rather respect for the health and well being of yourself and those around you.

Yes, we should be required to wear a mask for everyone’s safety.
