This is the easiest and most basic act that anyone with respect for science can take. Studies also show no oxygen loss and lower transmission chances.

Masks help keep people healthy, and protect against the spread of Covid19. I heartily support this ordinance.

I fully support this ordinance. The science is strong that wearing a mask protects others around you (and yourself to a degree). Right now, there are too many variables and risk factors to feel safe navigating around the city freely. Milwaukee was a shining example of cooperation and safety during the previous pandemic over 100 years ago. I am saddened that we have not modeled that in the past few months. Milwaukee had one of the lowest death rates in the country back then. Let's do the right thing and wear masks. It will make the world a better place sooner.

Science shows that masks help to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Leaving it up to “personal choice” ensures that thousands of people are walking around maskless, potentially infecting others if they are asymptomatic carriers of the virus. Help keep Milwaukee safe and healthy by mandating masks!

Masks are necessary to keep people from spreading this virus. Because of the fact that asymptomatic carriers are known to spread the disease we can't just ask people to stay home if they are feeling sick. Masks will help us reduce people spreading this disease and not even knowing it.

Leave it up to businesses to decide to require coverings to enter, leave it to individuals to wear outdoors if they feel more comfortable. As an Asthmatic, I cant wear one more than 30 minutes without an attack. Long enough to get groceries. So I can cope with store policy and still live. Cant go outside without- end to my personal rights. We have higher numbers showing up because we are doing more testing finally. Stay safe, wash your hands, use common sense. Mandated use won't help as much as it can hinder, smart use will keep us working safely.

I fully support making masks mandatory. I would really for to see our city at the forefront of change when it comes to our response to COVID-19.

For those that say you want to have your life back and how inconvenient this would be... it translates to you saying that any response to COVID-19 should be tailored to your tolerance for inconvenience, regardless of other people safety...

This is the moment we need think of our family, friends, neighbors, our city. With empathy and love for one another.

Let's protect each other and especially our essential workers by requiring masks in public spaces.

There are many unknowns about COVID 19, but according to a meta analysis of 172 studies and trends of places that have masks mandates, the efficacy of masks is not one of them. At this point it is irresponsible and selfish to not have a mandate.

Downfalls to mandatory masks: Slight inconvenience, minor discomfort, dislike being told what to do.
Benefits to mandatory masks: Save lives. Do you need more reason than that?

For those that say to stay home if you don't want to wear a mask, think about all of those people deemed essential workers and how the only choice they have is to work or go hungry. By wearing a mask, you protect those people who put themselves at risk for this deadly disease everyday. If you value your convenience more than human lives you need to reassess your priorities.

The government already mandates that people wear pants in public, so the argument that wearing a mask infringes on personal rights is both dumb and bad. Countries where masks are routinely worn are already getting back to normal. Meanwhile America has 4% of the worlds population and 25% of the coronavirus cases.

As a City of Milwaukee employee I STRONGLY support this ordinance. This is a simple step the community can take to keep each other safe and healthy. No one should risk being exposed to a virus that has the potential of being fatal because too many individuals feel like this is against their constitutional right. Requiring a mask be worn for a temporary time frame is no different than the permanent "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service". Please pass this ordinance and keep Milwaukee safe!

Please pass an ordinance to make masks mandatory. It is an extremely important step to protect our citizens, protect our businesses, and decrease the likelihood that we will need to go back into a lockdown. Personally, I would also feel more comfortable going out into the community more which will increase the amount I am spending in our local economy and I do not think I am alone.

Wearing masks is a small measure we can take for the greater good of the community. I
    Support.

Many kids age 3+ are unable to properly wear a mask for any extended period of time. This is a ridiculous burden on parents.

The ordinance forces employees to become Health Department police officers potentially getting them in violent confrontations.

MPD CAN enforce this ordinance (it’s an ordinance!). They might use it as pretext to detain someone for something unrelated. There will be racial disparity in enforcement.

Wearing mask while exercising outdoors is unworkable and dangerous.

CDC said wearing masks will lead to more face touching and complacency.

I oppose mandatory wearing of masks. Many people cannot wear them. I myself hyperventilate and get dizzy. It is causing me health problems. It should be up to each individual. People don't know how to wear them properly or take care of them. This is a health risk. If a business chooses to insist a customer wears them I respect that. It is more important that the community achieves herd immunity.

I strongly support this ordinance. Wearing a mask helps others and is in no way as big of an inconvenience as others are stating. I mean, I wear one 9 hours a day and I’m fine. All you need to do is take some breaks here and there when wearing for a long period of time when no one is around and you know... don’t wear a dirty mask and you’ll be fine. I don’t understand why this is such a big deal.
