I support this measure since I care about the wellbeing and health of all my fellow community members. If wearing a mask can protect one person it's worth the inconvenience.

I am against government mandating the use of face coverings. Not all people can wear masks and this will put those people at risk of serious health issues. Government should have no say on what we do with our bodies. Death rate has dropped significantly and all you’re doing is preventing herd immunity.

If we want to safely move forward we need masks. Those who don't want to wear a mask can stay home and in their yard, that is their choice. For those who are essential and do not have a choice to distance, masks will help keep them safer.

    Essential workers need this mandate.
Business owners need this mandate to prevent another shut down.
I wear a mask to protect others, who protects me?

I am completely opposed to this ordinance. The government should not have the authority to mandate people to wear or not wear masks. Last flu season (Oct 2019 - April 2020) there were 39 million to 56 million infections and there was no mandate to wear masks. With other pandemics the government didn't mandate wearing masks like during the H1N1 (swine flu) pandemic.

Absolutely protect the vulnerable but don't cater to some people's fears, and certainly don't pass ordinances to force everyone to cater to those fears.

As a PhD-trained scientist, I wholeheartedly support a mask mandate. The science clearly shows masking can significantly reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the community. Mandatory masking will allow our local business to stay open. Without a mask mandate, Milwaukee area hospitals will be at risk for being overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients, forcing another closure of the state economy.

This mandate has nothing to do with science and everything to do with pseudoscience. This is no definitive evidence that cloth masks, which is what the majority wear, provide any benefit and growing evidence of detrimental effects. Deaths are down, hospitalizations are down, the curve has been flattened and we're getting close to not having an actual pandemic anymore! What's the point? The government's job is not to protect my health, that's my job. The government's job is to protect my rights. I respectfully oppose this ordinance and if it is passed, I will not comply.

Strongly support. This isn't about "tyranny" it's about basic science and keeping people safe. Just because I'm guessing a lot of people opposed to this ordinance don't like wearing a shirt into Costco it doesn't mean wearing said shirt is anything more than a basic expectation of decency and public health. Please please

I completely disagree with mandatory masks. If you keep yourself healthy, get good sleep, eat right, minimize stress, your body can fight most everything. I work in Milwaukee and have season tickets to the Mke Rep. If masks are mandatory, I will cancel my subscription. Masks reduce my health by raising fear and cortisol and lowering my immunity. Trust in your body to heal itself. Getting this virus/ flu is not avoidable. Let me decide hot to handle my health. Here are facts why masks are not healthy: https://www.facebook.com/397705657438982/posts/705957113280500/?d=null&vh=e

Leave the decision to the individual person. A child will not wear a mask properly all the time. I’ve seen adults wearing masks with their noses exposed. A reused mask worn all the time is a dirty, moist breeding ground for other germs too! How will people eat at a restaurant? Pull the mask down for every bite and drink? Ridiculous. If you want to wear a mask then go ahead and wear one properly. Don’t make others wear one. If you are sick or prone to illness, then wear one. Don’t make others wear one. Is this how the future cold & flu season is going to look? Should we wear a mask 24/7?

Mask decisions should be made at the individual and business level. Wearing a mask during certain activities is counterproductive. For example bars, restaurants, and gyms will involve people removing their masks constantly to consume beverages and food meaning they will be touching their faces and contaminating themselves and whatever they touch anyway. So they are pointless for these specific businesses. During exercise masks are dangerous and reduce oxygen intake. The State Senate will not approve a mask mandate and I will avoid all Milwaukee businesses if passed. I strongly oppose.

Strongly oppose! We have immune systems for a reason. Our bodies are made to fight off infections and keep us healthy. Germs are everywhere. We come in contact with so many each and every day that you cannot possibly block them out of your personal space forever. We don't wear masks for the flu and other diseases, so why should we wear one now? I feel as though the statistics for corona cases are skewed. The flu has also killed many people, and we never shut down the world for it or mandated everyone to wear masks. The media and government is just trying to scare and brainwash people.

Wearing masks and breathing in one's own carbon dioxide is more harmful than the potential spread of germs. Our world has survived thus far with numerous other, more harmful diseases. A virus is an organism, and if it wants to infect a person, a mask isn't going to stop it. This is a free country and mandating an accessory that can cause more harm to a person's health is not acceptable. We need oxygen to survive and a mask prevents that. This mandate is setting the world up for death. There are multiple other, more important issues the government could be spending their time on.

Please help reduce the Covid-19 cases in our city by passing this ordinance. It will not only keep people healthy but also help our frontline customer service teams who are being berated and made to enforce policies with no authority to do so.

I am strongly opposed to this unenforceable mandate. This is going to hurt small businesses further and cause more social unrest and tension. Plus how will they get 3 yr olds to keep a mask on all day at daycare so they don’t get shut down? We all know people are NOT wearing them correctly, touching them nonstop, and contaminating. Masks are DIRTY! The majority of people don’t actually have the time or resources to launder them daily. Will you be providing a weeks supply for everyone, or is everybody just wearing them filthy? Might as well be walk around with dirty underwear on your face.

I STRONGLY oppose this mandate! There is no reason for it backed by science. Wear one outside?!?! Makes no sense. Same experts saying wear one now were saying something else two months ago. Believe it or not, your tax paying citizens, AKA, your employers are capable of deciding if they need to wear a mask or not. Businesses can require them and deal with the circumstances. We do not need you mandating this. I personally wear one, but not outdoors. And I will not wear one outside if this passes. Perhaps your enforcement will be like the fireworks enforcement. Please do not pass this. Thank you.

How are you going to require masks in restaurants, bars and coffee shops; you can’t eat or drink with one on. Will they all be shut down again?! Talk about demoralizing your citizens. Also, how do people expected to run/exercise outdoors while wearing a mask?! Last time I checked you need ample air flow and oxygen. Come on, common sense please.

If there are exceptions ( which I believe there should be) how will they be handled. If someone comes into my business and expresses that that can’t wear a mask due to medical reasons how do I handle this in honoring their right to not wear one. Also how is my business protected from the Karen’s out there who might see someone not wearing a mask(even though the mandate allows them an exemption) and then reports the business as if they’re not following the rules when they’re in actuality are.

How would the city handle this scenario? Is my business license protected in a situation like this?

I strongly oppose this legislation to mandate masks! A mandate will only address a single aspect, and that is to wear a mask, the debate on mask effectiveness has not been accurately proven; although they have been proven harmful if worn incorrectly. There is no way to know or control which type of masks people are wearing, if they touch their face and then an object, etc. It makes this entire legislation a waste of our time and resources. This mandate will harm the mental health of the general public; Please I urge you to reject this proposal!
