There is scientific proof that a barrier reduces the spread. Let's not be individual minded but think of the citizens as a whole. If we can all wear a mask, hardly a sacrifice compared to previous generations efforts for our nation, we can aid in the slowing and ending of spread. Rather than think individualistically of 'its not comfortable' or 'I feel like an idiot' why not think of those who are vulnerable and try to help protect them. Can we all as a city come together to actually care about other people over ourselves? We are opening back up and the spread is going higher, come on.

As cases continue to rise in our city and state, I feel it's imperative that we require people to wear masks. Wearing masks will help us avoid another shut down as we are seeing other states enforce. Let's keep our residents safe and businesses open by requiring a very simple fix.

There is NO proof masks help!! Masks are just a tool to control the people! I will NEVER wear a mask or have my rights violated. My life my choice!!

Mandatory mask rules are not a solution. The economic disaster you and the mayor and governor have led this city and state into will require a miracle to recover. If a business wants to request masks for their customers, allow it. If a customer wants to wear a mask, allow it. But do not FORCE/ MANDATE others who have chosen not to wear one or have medical issue that prevent them from wearing one. Let's be realistic. This will never go away, just like the flu. Do we plan on wearing one for the rest of our lives? I know I don't. If it's that important, force all the protesters to wear one.

Do not impose this! Let each individual make their own choice instead of unconstitutionally forcing us to wear masks.

There is no solid scientific proof that face masks/coverings protect from viruses. There is actually more independent scientific proof that constantly wearing a mask can cause more damage and sickness due to bacteria and carbon dioxide being breathed in. We live in a free society and mandatory face masks is not medically or constitutionally appropriate.

There is no evidence that masks that are not custom-fitted N95 masks are effective, and there is evidence many are not depending upon material used and fit. This is just a “feel good” measure that limits the rights of citizens to make their own choices. Also, while cases go up, deaths are going down. So the virus is losing its potency.

Let the people decide for themselves. I will not wear a mask. They restrict oxygen intake and they have never been proven to provide any protection against viruses such as COVID-19. If this policy is put in place, I will take all business outside the city of MKE.

Do NOT impose this! Make it up to individuals if they choose to wear one or not. This will only hurt to economy in Milwaukee even more than it's already hurting. This is a city that thrives on tourism and outside income. Not to mention it will push residents to other counties anyway.

As a nurse practitioner who practices in our city, I urge you to make wearing masks in public mandatory. A review of 172 observational studies published June 1, 2020 in The Lancet found face masks were highly effective in reducing transmission of COVID-19. Virus transmission was reduced from 17.4% with no face mask to 3·1% with a face mask. Wearing masks can provide far reaching benefits to the community, especially by protecting those most vulnerable to this virus. It has benefits to the economy, as preventing transmission can avoid a future surge and safer in place order.

Do not rely or impose upon hospitality and retail managers to enforce emergency public health measures NECESSARY to slow the spread of COVID. In business where "the customer is always right" is the guide, it's fantasy, and a recipe for conflict to expect this to work. I was an inspector for MHD CEH from 1991 till retirement in 2016, so I know the challenges. Controlling respiratory spread is far more complex than preventing food borne illness.

This is tyranny to make masks mandatory. Besides that, how many times have the "pros" said masks don't work? Then say they work? Then go back and say they don't work? That's fishy and inconsistent. I will not fall for this. Nor will I fall for this social distance hoax. Everyone's immune except rioters and looters? Yeah okay. Naw.

Please require all Milwaukee businesses to require face masks, as well as in public places. My employer has required all to return to work and we do not have to wear a mask. This is going to dramatically increase all of my colleague’s exposure to Covid19, even for those who choose to wear a mask since some employees will not. My family has been self isolating for months and for what? Since so many businesses are putting profit over the safety of their employees, it is imperative this goes into effect ASAP.

WE ALL NEED TO WEAR MASKS. It's incredibly disappointing how many people apparently need to have this decision made for them even though it's literally a matter of life and death. If there is no policy put in place the city is saying they're fine with letting more people die. A true civilization is where people take care of each other. Right now we are not living in a civilization.

This is a moral issue, not a political one. Masks work and can increase the safety of any workers who have to be exposed to others. Choose reason, safety and respect- not utter selfishness.

Masks should be mandatory to protect public health inside businesses. This is the only way we can safely open businesses.
