If you’re going to require one then you should pay for it

As a nurse practitioner who practices in Milwaukee, I urge you to support a mask mandate. Wearing masks are a highly effective way to reduce the transmission of COVID-19. This is supported by current research evidence. A review published recently in The Lancet showed person to person virus transmission was reduced from 17.4% to 3.1% with mask wearing. By requiring wearing of masks while in public, we are protecting those must vulnerable to complications of COVID-19. Requiring masks to be worn will benefit the economy as a surge and potential subsequent “safer in place” order can be avoided.

I fully support providing a mask to those who cannot make, purchase, or otherwise obtain a suitable mask.

ADMINS: Please consider that many of the Oppose votes are people opposed to the mask mandate, not necessarily distribution of free masks to those in need.

Support the initiative, recommend that the initiative fund local mask makers, and that a limit be applied to masks distributed per person to avoid abuse of the service.

This is a public health crisis and the public health needs to be protected. A free mask upon request is a low cost measure that our public officials can take to protect public health.

As the masks are made a requirement, making them free to those who need them will help with those who oppose

I support a program that allows for masks to be available to residents upon request without charge, assuming there are no built in loopholes that disproportionately penalizes marginalized people. Also assuming the masks are equally available in all areas of the city and to all residents equally as requested.

I feel this is the only way to keep us SAFE and still being able to move back to a “normal” Milwaukee.

I believe that this is the only responsible thing to do. This allows for all citizens to have access to masks eliminating one reason not to mandate the wearing of them.

Many countries have used masks to reduce rates of Covid 19

ADMINS: Please consider that many of the Oppose votes are people opposed to the OTHER agenda item, not necessarily this one, when counting the level of support.

My opinion: People should be given the opportunity to use PPE. As it stands, one of the reasons many people don't wear masks is because they can't afford to buy one, which disproportionally affects poorer communities and families. Free masks are good, making them mandatory is not.

Do not mandate masks, and do not screw over outside people who unfortunately have to travel and work in any Milwaukee county city, especially Milwaukee itself. If you guys really wanted to help the people, you wouldn't have shut down business effectively making people jobless and depending on the government to provide for them.

Do Not mandate masks!!!! It's our choice to wear one or not. 30 ft is far fetched. What happened to 6ft that got tossed out the window. Really a 2 or 3yr old running around with a mask on might last few min or so. Let's be realistic about this.
    Let's Get Businesses Open !!!!!!!
Leave it up to the businesses to mandate it during these times. They are the ones that hurting the most. Some will, some will not. Will be our choice to shop there or not. At least the choice has been given. It's up to us keep moving forward.

Strongly opposed. WI has 800 deaths compared to IL at over 7,200 and MI at over 6,200. Stay away from our constitutional rights as free Americans to make our own choices for our bodies. MY body MY choice. I can make an informed decision based on study and discussion with my family doctor and my family as to whether I will wear a mask. No need for the state to babysit us.

This should be strongly opposed. Masks should not be mandated by the City nor should they be provided by the City.
