1. 200409 Resolution directing the Commissioner of the Milwaukee Health Department to establish a program under which all City residents may receive a face mask without charge upon request.
Please get everyone access to masks immediately! The health of our community and it's economy depends on it. I'm a small business owner and the longer this draws out the worse it's going to be for people like me. At this point, a mask is an absolute necessity and an essential item.
Masks will help us slow the spread and protect immune-suppressed individuals from grave illness and potential death. We need to do what is best for our communities as a whole. That means wearing masks.
None of this is about “you needing a mask”. The simple concept has been hard to understand, but I’ll say it again for everyone that still thinks the mask is to protect the mask wearer:
We wear the mask as a mitigation effort to stop giving it to others as we may be carrying it and not know it.
It does not protect the wearer, but the collateral damage from spread through the grapevine.
My strongest concern with this is that that has been discrimination towards people who cannot wear masks because of disabilities. For example stores like Menards I haven’t forced this for all customers is nothing short of discrimination. We live in a time when we talk about quality but yet people are a few service because they cannot wear a mask because of lung conditions such as CF. This will driveway business as more people will flock to the suburbs and is strongly opposed from many public polls. If this goes ahead I will not be shopping or spending any money in the city of Milwaukee
As of 7/7/2020 there were only 32,556 cases of COVID in Wisconsin. Divide that by 5,851,750, the population of Wisconsin, to get .0055. .0055 x 100 = .55% - for about a half of a single percent of the population of our state, we are going county by county and mandating mask wearing which has been proven ineffective by SCIENCE? If you are going to cry "my body, my choice" when it comes to the murder of innocent unborn children, then it is my body and my choice not to adopt a practice which is harmful to my health. This is a direct violation of the Constitution and the ADA. I WILL NOT COMPLY!
I do not support mandatory masks we should have the right to choose for ourselves if we need them. Do our own research to determine if they will work for us. For those who want to wear one shouldn't feel threatened by those who don't if they truly work!
There is no data supporting that wearing face covering in public help to lessen the spread of this virus. There is plenty of data supporting that face coverings create more bacteria when worn for long period of times (same mask (fabric) all day without being washed or replaced if it's a disposable ear loop mask (which you start breathing in toxic chemicals from the mask itself if worn for a long period of time because they are not designed for the same mask to be worn all day), lessens your oxygen levels, lessens your immune system, etc.
This can only help public safety!
I support this.

I do not support this. Face masks should be a choice!
We need this to ensure everyone’s safety. We can’t think of just ourselves but everyone else in this city.

The communities safety is the key priority here! We must look out for one another.
I STRONGLY DISAGREE as masks are not required AT ALL
We must do everything we can to keep ALL of our people safe.
Support 100%.
Masks should have been mandatory in March. The government has let us down. Wisconsin is not Florida. People wear seat belts -- what's the difference?

I support the resolution for all city residents to receive a mask upon request.

Public health & safety is critical to a functioning community. Masks are an effective deterrent to community spread of Covid.
Many things are free, masks ought to be.
