Mayor Barret's nomination is strongly supported by Milwaukeans, including myself. There is no one better qualified than Amanda Avalos to improve the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. The City of Milwaukee deserves to have the expertise, solidarity, trust, and recognition that Amanda brings to the table.

I STRONGLY and ADAMANTLY support Amanda’s nomination. She has been a fierce advocate for marginalized communities in the city of Milwaukee for many years. Her stances lean towards social justice and equity for all, which will provide a fresh voice that is surely needed in the FPC. Many communities that rarely if ever feel represented will feel justly so with Amanda’s appointment.

Again, I double down my support for Amanda’s appointment.

Amanda Avalos has been a strong community leader in our city for years, and she has a truly collaborative and goal-oriented approach to any work she does. I have seen this firsthand in her AmeriCorps work and in her personal attention to the development of people like me. She would work tirelessly for the FPC because she cares about this city and the fair oversight of those meant to protect and serve our communities. Her resume speaks for itself and is demonstrative of her outstanding work ethic and integrity.

Amanda Avalos is a person of strong integrity, character, and a demonstrated connection to her community. She would be an excellent addition to a Board plagued by inefficiency and a willful lack of decisive action. I firmly support her appointment and look forward to a complete and functioning board that fulfills its purpose and represents the community and keeps the police in line with their purported goal to serve and protect.

Amanda Avolos is not qualified for this position. In addition, her anti-police views are not welcome in a city already dealing with a record homicide rate this year. I vehemently oppose Amanda Avolos for this position. Any Alderman who votes in support needs to be voted out of office.
