Having worked with him in multiple capacities, I can personally attest to his integrity, unshakeable commitment to advocating for vulnerable communities (black and brown Milwaukee), strong critical reasoning, and superb technical process in the areas of management, real estate development, construction, and the law. More than any of these skills, I believe its vital that Mr. Crump’s willingness to listen and learn are recognized. These traits are increasingly rare but remain common in the most effective leaders.
Without a doubt, Lafayette Crump will serve the city well. He has demonstrated a commitment to all communities as evidence by his work history, community engagement and solid letters of support from various entities. He understand as Caressa Givens articulated in her letter of support that "segration is about public space....white people don't understand/care that they don't have to see Black Life". He is ready for THE community accountability required as a result of this appointment. His resume is impresssive, inclusive of "inclusive" community engagement.
