I appreciated Ms. Avalos' comments during the public meeting held on 12/12, especially her detailed knowledge of and commitment to the core values of the National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement (NACOLE).
I am excited for Amanda Avalos' appointment to the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. Amanda represents what I and many other Milwaukee residents want to see in this city's decision making bodies. She is ready and capable of making bold change that is also thoughtful and effective. Milwaukee cannot continue our current practices when it comes to policing. They're costing us lives and the majority of our city budget. I trust Amanda Avalos to help us grow into our potential as a city. I hope that as a commissioner she is able to lead us through divestment from policing and changing current policies and practices in the meantime. I believe Amanda's experience and perspective is needed to make this board a TRULY representative body.
I can only assume my original ecomment from 9:24am on 12/8 will be added to the record. It would a shame if they were conviently erased.
Seems the content from Ms. Avalos Twitter page has been blocked from public view. I demand that she respond in full to her extremely bias anti-law enforcement position which has been well documented for mamy, many months. There should be no other discussion. She is unfit to hold a Commissioner position.
While it is one thing to say you love and care about your community, it is another to take action and prove it time and time again. That is what Amanda Avalos has done and will continue to do. With her commitment to uplifting and bettering Milwaukee, she will not only fulfill her responsibilities but also exceed expectations.
